What do you think about the Showcase category?

Which makes me think… :thought_balloon:
If we have a  for a like button, could we also have a :disappointed: for an Unlike.

I’ve only just had a discussion with my daughter about Fb’s lack of an unlike button after someone liked a status about being depressed (not me  ). Really they were just acknowledging the post but it seemed odd, rude even, to see it liked when really it needed to be unliked.

unlike buttons can get very nasty thinking of another forum I use.

I wonder if any of these features are in folksy’s control, or if they are down to discourse as a whole?

Good news. You can moderate this kind of behaviour as a community. If 5 people flag a post, it gets automatically hidden and the user is sent a PM asking them to consider how to revise their post.

It might be worth considering some guidelines for what is ok in terms of self-promotion so that everyone is clear about when to flag a post!

Once you get to Trust Level 3 you can also recategorise and rename topics yourselves

Ooh now how do we get to be so trusted?? Is it an automatic process or something admin decides on?

Yes, some nice clear guidelines up front would be great.

I did put some guidelines in the ‘About the Showcase category’ - do these sound reasonable?

Clicking the like button would feel more like part of the conversation if people could see who had clicked like; otherwise sometimes I feel that it might look as if I haven’t responded to something when I have. Was always taught it was rude to ignore people!

Ah thank you, I must have hovered but not clicked!

Very reasonable I think. Perhaps a bit more emphasis on point 2 although I can’t quite think how to word it right now, suffering from a fuzzy head (inside and out)
