I make dresses for myself. it takes a lot of trial and error for them to fit as its me shaping fabric on myself which can be tricky. But I like what Ive made so far. Here is one of them, a wrap round dress. It looks a bit odd as the mannequin is half the size of me.

I crochet and cross stitch. In fact, the first crafts activity I got into as a kid was cross stitching and did that for a number of years and I still do. Although I also learnt the basics of crochet and knitting at the same time, these two skills were developed much later.

I can also write with both hands. I’m naturally left handed but, due to an accident when I was a kid, I had to learn how to write with the right. My left hand looks like nothing ever happened and I never forgot how to write with it!

Hello everyone, I mostly make bead jewellery, but I can also crochet and I do a lot of cross stitch. You will find some on these things on my shop, lancsrosedesigns. I have added some jewellery today and hope to add some crochet within a day or two. I have done crochet since a teenager and have cross stitched for many years, but recently added jewellery making to my skill set.

I sing, dance and act…I spent many years doing shows and having some leading parts in musicals…I also performed with a local group (4 of us) and we would go round to nursing homes entertaining the residents. I also have a relative (deceased) who was a famous 60’s pop star)…all in the family…lol

Up until a very short while ago I flamenco danced, but sadly our troup has disbanded and there is no where near me that has classes, so I just don all the gear and dance at home now for exercise.

Edited to add a picture of me that I’ve just found

I play the flute, do a bit of dressmaking and make pencil drawings and watercolours. Sadly I am also a science nut and spend most of my time looking at the ground when I go to a pebbly beach as a result. However, I did once find a piece of fossilized bone. Honeycomb texture, so could have been a dinosaur, pterosaur or even an early bird.

I’m named as an inventor on a couple of drug development patents. (I could go back to medicinal chemistry but I’m not sure I want to…)

I am also a hairdresser but only do my family now. I can play the piano (bit rusty) and am fascinated by the tudor period and even have a (tiny) coin dating from the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1st.

I’m not sure if I have a talent for this and I started wayyyyy to late with a surf lesson for my 40th birthday, but I’m now totally addicted. Ive been surfing for 10 years now and still way off being amazing at it but I’ve met some amazing people along the way and surfed at some amazing places. I’m 50 now but fully intend to be surfing here in Brighton in my 80s. 10012490_10152627817683066_1877829998_n

I’m with you on the Tudor period! Are you interested in their fashions? If so, take a look at the Tudor Tailor on Instagram. She makes historically accurate garments, and it’s fascinating to see how they build up to the complete outfit, out of about 20 different bits of clothing.

How lovely Martine, I love brass band music. I played cornet in a local brass band when I was a child, my brother played cornet too and my dad played trombone, so was a big part of my childhood. You have just brought lots of sweet memories flooding back!

Ah, there’s a male tailor with the username of @TudorTailor. It’s not him I’m speaking of!

The lady I’m talking about is @TheTudorTailor and her name is Ninya. She was on a tv show about bringing fashions from paintings back to life, presented by Amber Butchart. Well worht catching that too, if you can find it. I think it was a BBC show, fairly recently, so it might still be available online.

Thanks Bees! it is! and I lost all my post-babies weight without realising because its so much fun, it doesn’t feel like exercise. Its not a consistent wave here in Brighton but it is possible and the surf community on the South Coast is very supportive with lots of encouragement for us oldies.
