I have only had 8 sales on folksy so far this month but on my other online stores I’ve had 117 but they have been going longer. The customers are out there, you just have to work hard to build up a reputation and have them find you It’s taken me nearly 4 years but I’m almost at the point where I can pay myself a wage! Yay!
As usual I have just cancelled a non payed for order…
Is it happening a lot @talulahblue?
Almost every sale these days. They go to the trouble to register an address etc, then don’t pay, I’ve told admin about the problem, quite a long time ago x
I presume you are ‘chasing’ with helpful “do you realise your payment hasn’t come through” emails ?
I get at least a couple of ‘non-payers’ a month but I’ve only, I think, had 2 who have not sorted it out and paid me using one method or another.
xx
I have had a great week with 11 sales. I am the founder of a small charity and every sale is a donation which really helps our cause!
I do email non payers sometimes, but not always. They don’t usually respond to my emails. I am thinking now that perhaps this happens on other sites, such as Etsy, but we don’t get notified because the sale has not actually gone through, so the item is still available for other buyers and not counted as a sale. I think really that a sale should only be counted if the payment has been attempted to be made. Hope that makes sense.
I have had a sale and another imminent one (I hope)
I find Facebook really useful .Many of my customers keep an eye on my new makes there , and often succumb to temptation. Customers I have met at fairs or that have found me online. I also get approached by quite a few shops via there wanting me to stock them.
I tend to steer sales to my Folksy shop unless people nip in before things are listed.
March and April are usually quieter months on here for me, but it allows me to build up stock for shops and fairs.
Its all gone dead! Really dead.
I had two more sales this morning.
2! that is brilliant! @teabreaks
Still none, Keep promoting everywhere I could possibly can, but don’t want to come out a spammy business:(
NobiasArt have you done any craft fairs or stalls?
I find I do better doing those but if you give out business cards at them people will look.
I do a stall at my local library twice a Month.
Plus spring summer and Xmas fairs plus all the other things on top.
In my first year on folksy I only sold one item
Keep going everyone - it’s better to have a slow start and build up a gradual but strong customer base than start with a bang and then fizzle out
Had a few more sales today - I’m up to 965 now, and am itching to pass the 1,000 mark
Well done.
Bet you are well pleased
I’m happy with my slow start. Cos a sale is a sale at the end of the day.
Mist admit when I first started I was grumpy that I made no sales.
But I’m happy now.
I completely agree with hobbitgirlie, once I would see even 1 sale/week that would give me huge satisfaction and boost, but just now with no sales at all, it is very frustrating:( And what is even more frustrating is not understanding why there is no sale, since I get loads and loads of compliments on my creations, but no sales. So not sure, is the prices or what is it:( And to answer the precious question as well, yes I have been on quite lot of craft fair, been very busy on those but no sales afterwards really.
I had my first sale last week & I’ve got someone interested in something via Facebook. I really like your card by the way. Kindest regards Debby
When did you start on line? I think the problem is jewellery has so many sellers. I think you just have to keep plugging away. As many have said a slow start could be a good thing. Let your reputation build & as Deborah Jones has said March & April tend to be slower months; not that I’m an expert at this as I’m very new to all of this too. I have been reasonably successful at craft fairs but not enough to give up the day job & I think there in may lie my problem. Working full time trying to make things, list them & promote promote promote is tricky!
Kindest Regards Debby
It’s certainly helping me as I’ve had someone say they want a pair of earrings so I’ve reserved them as they were a one off pair! She also wants to have a look at the rest of my shop on the basis of my Facebook posts so fingers crossed for everyone to have a successful year XX
