Resizing to this level will not have a noticeable effect on the images.
It won’t suddenly make them blurry/out of focus and will only be truely noticeable if they were either blown up to A4 size or printed off directly from the uploaded picture, both of which are highly unlikely scenarios.
It is Saturday afternoon and there is still an error message, don’t know when this all started.
As a newcomer, I am slow to do a new listing and having this problem is not good, just hope I can save what I have so far input!
Sadly I still can’t load any pictures - really frustraiting. As a Folksy Plus Account Holder, I would normally list daily - several items a day at times, but can not list at all How is it all going @sianfolksy?
Had a craft fair today and my regular customers were wondering where my new pieces were in my shop
Thanks Sarah @thesherbetpatch
I store images on my tablet and its not been easy to resize pics, but whoop I have finally managed it using an image resizing app, and I have to say the quality doesn’t seem to have been affected.
I’ve finally just listed a new item. I will carry on this way until the upload issue is fixed
Unfortunately it’s taking much longer than anticipated to get the fix deployed but we are continuing to work with our image service to get it pushed out as soon as possible. Doug updated the status blog with more information earlier:
Again, this is only affecting images over 1MB so if you can reduce your images to under 1MB we would advise that you do so. We would usually recommend that you do this anyway as larger file sizes can take longer to upload.
If you do this by reducing the physical size of the image (i.e. how wide and tall it is - usually measured in pixels) rather than the resolution (dpi/dots per inch), this shouldn’t affect the quality of the image, as long as you do not reduce them to less than 642 pixels wide (their maximum display size on Folksy).
Huge apologies again for the problems this is causing.
I have just managed to load some photos by re-sizing to 640 x 480 px. This is the large web size on my Microsoft Office Picture Manager programme. The photos on the listing are clear, but cropped in size. At least I was able to list, so that is a bonus!

Resized to 642 x 642 and the pictures are perfect - thank you xx
Resizing has worked for me too. I’ve just made the width 642 pixels and maintained the aspect ratio for height and had no problems uploading them - thanks for the advice here (pretty much a newbie, so was getting worried!)
Have resized my photos too, bit complicated but got there and will continue to list doing it this way. Hopefully the problem will be resolved soon, but thanks to everyone for the advice. Happy weekend.
Hi Karen, please could you let me know which app you used to resize? Like you, my images are on my tablet, and it’s pretty tricky to resize on it!
Many thanks, Teresa
I’m using an app called Photo Resizer from the Google App Store. It’s free too which is good and it’s simple to use. I chose the medium size resize and that’s working a treat
Hi, I have just joined Folksy today and while I have been able to add photos to my listings, I am unable to add my shop banner and profile picture, they are the correct size and less than 1MB. Do you think this is related to the problems mentioned in this thread or am I doing something wrong?
Should we really be having to re-size our photos so we can list new items. I for one, don’t know how to do this, and should we be having to faff around like this to suit folksy. This has been going on for about 4 days now - please somebody get it sorted.
I agree, I have no idea how to resize pictures and I appreciate that Folksy are probably trying to do their best to sort it but a few times I have done all the writing and then had to abandon the listing because it wouldn’t download the pics…so …sad to say…they have gone to the other side…I am not a technical wizzard so I will just have to wait until it is sorted…no faffing around for me…
I’m no technical wizard either Brenda, so just waiting until it will hopefully be resolved. Don’t know when though , they seem to be having lots of problems at the moment, I can’t sign in to my shop but it will let me on to the folksy forum. Another post this morning was saying she was trying to relist items in her shop but all the photos had changed to items that weren’t even hers.
Hi Brenda after a lot of faffing (technical term!) I have managed to resize my photos and just to make sure I could list, I did the photos first before I wrote the words. Like you I did the words first yesterday and then lost them. Do hope they get this problem sorted soon, I have more to list but really can’t afford to spend twice as long to do this. As I am new to Folksy I am slow anyway and just finding my way round. On the positive side, it has challenged me technically speaking, which must be good!
