Art Chat March 2015

Morning all
Loving your new paintings max…and the frame really sets it off.
Off out shopping in Swansea today…(going to the Works for more canvas boards)…back later…

Just been listening to The Wright stuff on tv and they were talking about poverty.
I must live on an alien planet because they said that anyone on an income under £15,000 was on the poverty line,.
I just added the sale of my paintings PLUS my Pension and the total is £4593 a year …eerm…should I panic?
So I went to add up my sales for the last financial year and they are one third DOWN on the previous year…now I AM worrying…that isn’t good is it? I thought I was doing quite well with sales on the auction site but it looks like it is not as good as I thought.
Mind you, things seem to have picked up this year and I think it is all down to the three months before Christmas when sales were dire for everyone.
Back to the beans on toast it is then…lol…thank goodness hubby has a SMALL work’s pension or we wouldn’t survive…

I’m only on about £17,000 so I’m not far off the poverty line myself! I don’t feel poor though, and I’m surrounded by art so I’m happy

Me too Margaret…I wonder what those people on TV think is good money…makes you think doesn’t it.!
If they think £15,000 is the poverty line that is scary.
Been to Swansea and bought some more canvas boards, so that I can keep up with the acrylic painting…I am trying to keep at least one listed in each place at all times.
No painting today…so I will have to do double tomorrow.
My total paintings so far this year is…da da.,…da da…
167…and I have sold 77 THIS YEAR !!..on a roll now…lol

Well done Brenda, you are awesome! I think some of the problem about the ‘poverty line’ is that some people’s expectations are too high and they expect too much. To be honest I reckon I live a pretty luxurious lifestyle, with a comfortable, warm house to live in with all mod cons, hot running water and a comfy bed to sleep in. There’s always plenty to eat, I can run a newish car, have the occasional few days away now and then and have more than enough clothes to wear (and jewellery!). I’ve even got a smart phone, a kindle and a computer! In previous centuries even royalty didn’t live as comfortably as I do now!

Thank you Max. This fair is our nearest one of all the fairs only 15 minutes away and we have done this venue so looking forward to it

Enjoy your painting Brenda, not sure I’ll get in the studio today but I have been sketching so might some more of that.

I managed two 7x5 acrylics but not all that good…I think I will be doing some over painting tomorrow
I was going to list but reading the maintenance thread it looks like there might be a security issue, so I will wait until tomorrow…it is probably safe but I don’t want to take chances.
Back later
Brenda x

Waving everyone! I think if we have a warm place to live and loving friends and family around us then we cannot be classed as poor.

Brenda I salute you, what awesome sales figures

I’ve been for a consultation with the triptych commissioner today and thankfully we are in agreement about where it needs to be heading, which is off-brief but artistically right…so I can relax, take the paintings back a few stages and then hopefully post all of the adventure in my fb album :relaxed:

Steph really looking forward to seeing how your triptych commission develops, saw your Turners too…brilliant!
Margaret good luck with all your sitting room & garden plans, sounds like you’ve a very busy time ahead of you

I’ve been running around last few days trying to juggle life & a multitude of jobs …sorting issues with printers, picking up new trial product designs and managing a wee bit of painting too. Walrus Wash is coming along very nicely…hope to finish him today. Just previewed the first of my new little squirrel designs on my fb page, he’s below for those that don’t see him on fb … just picked up his mug design yesterday so need to get him photographed, weighed, etc for sorting out his listing …he’s now being made into giclee prints hoping to pick them up in a couple of weeks and then fingers crossed greetings cards next month

Gonna take the weekend off to spend some quality time with hubby we’ve both been work so much nearly every weekend so thought it was high we had the whole weekend off together so of out for a spot of lunch on Saturday…really looking forward to it :relaxed:

Have a lovely day everyone x

What a sweet squirrel @cheekymonkeystudio I was sketching a squirrel yesterday, he was busy busy digging around in the leaves in my dad’s garden.

Another gorgeous one Max

Lol Brenda there have been times (many of them) that I wished I hadn’t taken this one on. I don’t have a proper reference photo so am having to make an awful lot of it up…lesson learned!
