Been very busy at work today, things are going to change soon and instead of looking after my own team I’ll be part of an ‘admin pool’ of four, doing work from a central inbox, not too pleased about that but at least it’s a job.

Ah Margaret I hope you settle into the new routine soon, change is always difficult, I know how you feel we’ve had nothing but change for the past few months and it’s only getting worse, but like you said it’s a job and you have your art and sewing outside of work which makes you happy

I’ve been painting a family at the seaside commission and redoing a pet sketch that went awol in the post. First time that’s happened to me.

Ohhh Steph sorry to hear your pet sketch went awol in the post…it’s always a worry whether things arrive ok.
Well that was fun today trying to photograph product several times over …every time i photograph in the house they come out dark know matter which room i try it in so i have a lot of playing in photoshop. But the sun came out this afternoon and i managed to try photographing outside…sooooo much better! Now i have the new camera too gonna gradually re-shoot all my product outside. Was a wee bit dodgy when the wind got up with ceramic mugs perched on a table when the background card broke free from it’s pegs…heart in mouth moment!

back from the wedding…waving everyone…some beautiful work on here today.
No pics from me because I don’t have one of those modern phones only a camera at home that is too chunky for me to carry around…
The wedding was beautiful and a lovely day for it.
Both groom and best man wore kilts and the best man proved that he was wearing nothing underneath…(not pretty !!)…lol
Now to get back to painting…well tomorrow as it is too late and dark now…

I managed to catch up with the painting programme, I’m certainly not enjoying the criticism, it’s a bit harsh. I don’t mind challenges but I don’t think it should be a competition.
I remember watching a similar series back in the 80’s or 90’s where 4 people set up their easels and all painted the same scene but I can’t remember it being a competition, just a challenge, each person painted with their choice of medium and style… does anyone remember this?
There also used to be another programme of a lady with her easel in the studio painting a different subject each week.
I used to watch lots of different art programmes back then.

I know exactly what you mean Jan, the female judge in particular is very scathing. I’d like to see her produce a perfect landscape or portrait under the same time constraints that the contestants are under.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I’m currently filling in a compensation form for the missing painting. I’m not hopeful as they want evidence of what it cost to manufacture it. Ha! It’s not about the cost of materials, it’s the cost of my time. I’ll let you know what happens.
Jan, I remember that, was it hosted by Hannah Gordon? It was good because everyone was allowed to interpret the picture in whichever way they liked…It was a good programme.

I have just ordered a new book and dvd from the SAA…I had £15 worth of vouchers to use up but it didn’t use the vouchers so I paid the whole price…grrr…I will have to order some white paint or something that I know I will use and next time I will PHONE them and ask them to use my discount points. The website was very unclear and I posted about it on their page. Apparently other people have had similar problems, so I hope the SAA sort it out…
On a good note my SAA paint magazine came today so I should be busy this week…reading and playing…

That’s a pain Brenda. I’ve always found it easy to redeem points, there’s a tick box I think. It’s been a while though so it might have changed.

apparently Stephie…if you go straight to checkout (which I did) it bypasses the points available…you have to “view basket” in order to be able to see them and use them. At least I now know !!!
