December sales improvement

I’ve had a real improvement in sales since the start of December. Anyone else?

I think with the US government shut down ending, people across the water have relaxed a wee bit. It’s really picked up. UK sales are still slow, but they have picked up a wee bit too over the last few days.

I’m doing Tracked24 on all UK orders from now until Christmas, in the hope that this helps with the last minute shoppers.

Very decidedly. Check the BS list . I wondered if it is the after effect of everything postponing shopping to see if they were going to be totally penniless after the budget or not but does seem to coincide.

My online Christmas sales didn’t kick in until after black Friday, makes me wonder how many people wait to see if they can pick something up in the sale before starting their Christmas shopping.

I have had nothing, but my sales are really low anyway. It’s nice to hear there are people buying things from somewhere.

Yes, probably that. It’s been so much better!

Sorry to hear that, hope it picks up for you

Yes, that could also be a big factor. I will remember this next year when I’m despairing at the end of November. Might be late again!

It’s been somewhat better for me too :slightly_smiling_face:

Good to hear. Hope it keeps up for you. There definitely seems to be a new pattern to online Christmas shopping.

I’ve been rather surprised by a bit of a rush here.. almost felt like the good old Folksy days at the weekend. One sale was a direct result of two to her relative in 2018 !
Long may it last. Do wonder if its mainly the tailend of my FB promotion which did get a couple of shares.
My phone just pinged… ..a sale but not on here - must just take it out of stock !

Hope it improves for you soon.

I sold a bear a few days ago but other than that nothing, my sales the past few months on here equate to one months usual activity, November I can usually expect £700 plus, this year it was around £200, December is usually quite good as well, in fact September was my worst month for a long long time. I’ve had smaller sales but not the large ones I’m use to, a combination of a few things, I havn’t made my usual products, I’ve been making smaller gifts as I’m not doing them going forward and had a lot of things half made or cut out so wanted to get some of them finished, that was a bad move, lack of motivation as well and lack of time to make my main creations also some of my main collectors curbing the spending due to saving for big events. I usually have a good January so will see what happens then but I’m not holding much hope untll I start on new stock. I’m going to cut my losses on some of my items and put them on sale this week as they are not what my collectors want, if nothing else it might recover some of the loss. I have faith that next year will be much better though as I’m taking my business back to what I do best and what I know will sell.

What’s the US government shut down? That reminds me I’ve also lost overseas customers, I need to make it a priority to calculate the taxes and add the US back in to my shipping which might see a couple of US customers returning.

Sounds like you have a good plan in place for next year. I hope it works out well for you.

Yes, you really need to get those US sales back on. You can calculate the tarrifs and add it to your US postage. Royal Mail are doing it all.

The US basically had all government services shut off for a while as the US budget could not be agreed on. Many people not getting paid and healthcare cost set to double for them. It stopped sales dead. They are back in action now.

Of course, most of us have already lost business to the EU and there are less and less UK sales as no one here can afford anything. We need the US buyers, but they do seem to be returning, thank goodness!

I am in a more fortunate position than most with the US as I sell original art, which is exempt from all tarrifs. I don’t know what the position will be with your bears. UK tariffs are, I think 10% which isn’t too bad.

Thank you, yes I am sure when it was discussed some time ago sellers were adding 10% on but do I also need to put a note on descriptions or can I just add one in my announcement saying the taxes for the Us have been calculated and have already been added to the shipping costs or something like that. I feel like I am drowning under the to do lists on my desk at the minute and have no time to create, I will be glad when January arrives and normality resumes. Bah humbug lol

Debby, I’m selling tons to the USA still (albeit on the other side), so it’s definitely worth adding the USA back on. Re your announcement, happy for to copy what I’ve written in mine xxx

Oh thank you Natalie, I will have a look at what you have done, I’ve got stressed with trying to do everything recently but will definitely get it added back in over the next few days as I do have customers in the US.

I’ve just had a look and I wouldn’t have known to put all the info that you have on yours so thank you for allowing me to use it. X

You’re very welcome, it’s no problem at all :face_blowing_a_kiss: . Re the postage costs, I just added 10% of the item price only to the postage cost xx

Oh brilliant, thank you, I will try to make a start tomorrow, the problem with me taking the postage costs out is I never kept a note of what they were so now have to calculate the weights and prices again.. .we live and learn x

I take photos of the postage costs on my laptop or screenshot them on my phone before I change them, otherwise they’d get lost in one of my many knitting notebooks! xx
