Does anyone have a Facebook shop?

That’s it really - I just wondered if anyone has really gone for it and set one up, how they got on with it, do they find it was worthwhile?

Everytime I mention something on my FB page it badgers me about adding it to my shop and I always ignore it, but is it something I should do? And if you have a shop, do you have your items linked to your website or to your Folksy shop?

No because fb thinks my items violate their policies so won’t let me set up :woman_shrugging:

I set up a basic one just so I could tag items on IG but sadly that facility has been removed now but my shop is still there. It updates automatically every time I list something on Folksy but I don’t think it has generated any sales…and like Carol a lot of my items are rejected especially the animals/birds. They are usually accepted on appeal but it is a pain!

We have one, but it is no use to us. It always wants more personal information to allow more features on the page. We use Instagram, we find it more user friendly, more approachable and seems to attract more followers easier! Hope that helps! feel free to follow us

I’ve seen the request asking me to open FB shop but wanted to see who else has experienced this!

I do! It was easy to set up. I copied in the listing images and descriptions, and linked each to my Folksy shop. (I didn’t attempt to set it up to ‘auto-copy’ or whatever it’s called, because my items don’t change very often.) I had a couple of things rejected because the algorithm thought my animal greetings cards were actual live animals, but i tweaked the title slightly and appealed and all but one are now accepted.

I tag the items from my posts, which is most convenient, gets round the issue with FB not liking you to put in prices etc. And all the sales are directed back to Folksy, so I only have one channel to worry about.

Seems that people who have problems are coming to it from the Instagram route, and i don’t ‘do’ instagram, so it’s never affected me.

Thanks all, that’s really interesting! It does often feel as though FB like you to jump through hoops - only to then reject you for a silly reason (other than to drive you a little bit bonkers!).

I was thinking about doing it basically like Helen @HelenCliffordArt suggested, just listing an item each time I do a post about it - rather than doing a concerted listing session. I’ve got so many things I think it would take forever to list everything. Looking at your shop Helen, you have a card collection, so I guess there’s the ability to create sections in the shop which will be useful.

Guess I shall bite the bullet and see how it goes - I suppose it’s a tidier way of getting a clickable link. I usually put the link to a product as a comment under my post because FB hate links on posts, and as Helen says, things like prices, £-signs, etc.

Thanks everyone
