Caught up to here.
Thanks for the painting appreciation @feelfeltfound (love your bangle too).
Beautiful necklace @jenniesgems. Love all the earrings @DeborahJonesJewellery, @SashaGarrett @JanicesJewels (sorry if I missed anyone).
smashing ring @aamjewellery.
I heard today that the student finance package has been approved for my degree course. I feel like I’m on my way now.
Have a lovely evening everyone.
Royal mail scan the barcode at the airport before the parcels leave the country and make sure that the customs info is on the system (if its not on the system they enter it based on what is on the CN22 - this step can happen at the post office or if you buy your postage online you can enter it yourself). The americans then scan the barcode again when it arrives at their customs handling sites so they know which ones need to have fees paid or warrant further inspection.
Hi, I used Graham Sykes last year and then this year I joined A-N but the insurance is for artists only rather than for craft fairs (as in there’s certain criteria about current practice and exhibitions etc you need to meet). To be honest anyone selling online would be well advised to have insurance in place, it is mandatory for fairs.
Super package of beads thank you @SashaGarrett - arrived Saturday but with quarantining the post we didnt get to open the package till late yesterday.
Today I’ve relisted this brooch
How did your front garden Open Studio go Sasha? Great idea. (I hope there’s some public liability on that saw, stool and lump of surfite combo) and also that you got lots of interest.
There seem to be lots more virtual sales and events going on these days. Have yet to try one.
@ChrisStoneArtist thats brilliant news. Onwards and upwards .
@SulikoSoul I am also AN insurance. I have always had the public liability, but never considered product liability (till now!) Do you think you automatically get both?
All done to here
All done to here. Took me ages!
Hi Tracy, I love walking around the Look Out and have lived in Bracknell since I was about 1 year old, so quite a while now. Small world. x
Well Saturday was a bit of a washout. But on the Sunday a number of regulars who refuse to buy online were socially distanced queuing to get into the gazebo and have a look/ buy so it was worth doing. And having the lump of surfite there with a saw sticking out of it sparkled a lot of interest (no they weren’t allowed anywhere near it) and I’m now doing product awareness with the surfite that I did with fordite at the beginning so fingers crossed that will get a similar cult following and have people queuing up to get it.
I’ve done a couple of virtual markets and exhibitions and they didn’t work for me - I think there is a sweet spot price wise for what sells via those types of events and what I’m selling is too expensive. However they do always generate additional followers on social media and people seem interested so maybe come christmas time when they have an excuse to spend more money they will be back.
Good evening Everyone! I am so pleased to say that I have two sales to report please Max @MaxPringJewellery my listing from last night and the night before sold last night
My listing for today is along the same theme as my last two and I also have another one to list later.
I am now off to love all the wonderful items. Back tomorrow. x
Thank you. x
so that means that I can only use ones without a barcode if I post in the local box and use my own postage stamps ( don’t have it scanned at the post office or pay for it online?)
Have I got that right Sasha? @SashaGarrett Otherwise, scanning at the airport wouldn’t show anything up…
If there is a barcode but nothing shows up when it gets scanned at the airport then they (royal mail) will input the data themselves based on the information on the CN22 but it will likely be delayed compared to items where the data is already inputted. If you are using stamps and posting in the local post box you need to use the CN22 with the barcode.
You can only use the CN22 forms without the barcode if you are using a tracked or signed for service where the barcode is part of the postage label.
In the future the USA might start refusing post that doesn’t have a barcode/ customs data and it will be returned to sender (or possibly destroyed) so it is better to get into the habit of making sure your post to USA has a barcode on it now.
Just called in to report a sale (quite a biggy!). Please add one to the tally @MaxPringJewellery
Sasha. @SashaGarrett did you get that round the wrong way>,surely the ones WITH the barcode are the tracked ones and without the barcode for ordinary posting?
Tracking postal labels already have a barcode on them (for the tracking) which can also act as the barcode for submitting the customs data against. So tracked parcels don’t need a second barcode on the CN22 form (the numbers wouldn’t match as each barcode is different). Normal postage stamps and untracked postage labels don’t have a barcode so the CN22 needs to have a barcode on it. For the USA there needs to be a barcode on the package regardless of whether it is being tracked or not or USPS can refuse to accept it in accordance with the STOP act they passed a couple of years ago.
On the Royal Mail website it clearly says if you are buying then postage at the post office you will get a CN22 with a barcode, it doesn’t say you have to use one with a barcode if you post in the post box
Needful done on Pinterest, Twitter and Folksy and please to report that I’ve just sorted out my facebook issues so in process of getting back up and running there. Might even work out how to use it - already discovered how to run out of ‘likes’ so may be a work in progress
