Folksy Plus - Not Hapy About Setting Up A Direct Debit

I upgraded to a Folksy Plus account some years ago - never sure if it was worth and wasn’t sure whether to renew it but I followed the link and saw that the renewal options are by Direct Debit only.

A one-off payment was simple enough to do but I’m not happy about setting up a Direct Debit payment that I would have to keep track of and remember to cancel in time if I decided not to renew next year.

Is this the only option? Anyone else due to renew and not sure what to do?

I would be surprised if you don’t get a notification for several weeks before renewal date every time you go into Folksy. I certainly did before my recent renewal by DD. Happier using this way than the rather odd one off payment system used before.

As far as I remember, they do not automatically renew it the next year. You receive a reminder and only pay if you want to renew.

I just read your reply Joy, does it get renewed by DD now unless you cancel ? I think it has changed then since I last renewed.

You’re right, the one-off thing was a bit strange, I inadvertently cancelled my Plus account one day when I “tidied up” my bank account !

Amanda I don’t know the answer to that. First time I’ve DD’d it. Had rather aggravating notifies for about 3 weeks prior to renewal but it wouldn’t let me do it until my time was up.
I checked on here (someone can always give you an answer – I love this forum :heart::heart: ) and people said that was the case so as soon as it let me, I did.
I’m just presuming that the renewal messages, which I assume are Folksy system generated (@clarefolksy ?) will hopefully still pop up next year.

There was also an option for a slightly more expensive (£5 pcm) monthly DD.

This is from our KnowledgeBase:

Plus accounts last created or renewed from November 2017 are automatically renewed monthly or annually by Direct Debit unless you cancel before the next payment is due. You will receive an email notification prior to the expiry date.

Plus accounts last created or renewed before November 2017 will expire at the end of your 12 month plan. When your Plus account has expired you will be able to renew it by setting up a new Direct Debit.

You can check the status and expiry date of your Plus account at any time from Dashboard > Shop Settings > PLUS account:
