CAROLINE @Caroleecrafts …i just gogled it and it was much worse than that…lol…I am learning all the time…xx
@JOYSofGLASS this new “feature” would be great for us long-standing members to get ahead of the new people, but only if it selects current listings with stock greater than zero!
I already ditched my Plus account last year, but it’s pretty pointless adding new stock to my shop under current circumstances. Let’s hope it gets sorted out soon.
I go to quite a lot of trouble to make sure at least the front page of my shop is neat, tidy and with my latest make at the top with 3 other ‘same’ colours to make it look smart. I leave older things which require my attention really to redo photos at the bottom, out of sight.
Now in plain view whereas my lovely Green Man from yesterday is destined to stay in the Far Away Forest of pages 8------>>>>>>>>>>
I will as soon as I get a minute (currently attacking the garden in my spare time ) be downloading a lot of listing text and photos (such as they are as all called display, avif) in case I need to move the llistings which are only here in my Folksy shop… elsewhere… Not much point in being invisible here, might at the very least have a chance of daylight on my own (currently shop front only but that can easily be changed )website…
I worked out that if my sales continue at same rate as this month i will end up over the year paying Folksy in Fees just about the same as I would net in profit after expenses (and their fees). And honestly I think i do a lot lot more for that money…
Thanks for putting it so politely Caroline x
I’ve arrived in Whitby and normally leave my shop open when I come here but as there have been no sales since this began and as I am almost invisible and searches for my shop no longer find it unless it is spelt exact I thought what’s the point so I’ve put it on holiday mode, hoping it might be sorted by the time I get back or it might stay closed. Pleased someone who doesn’t work for Folksy has managed to figure out what the problem is.
Oh! I think the 7 page limit is gone. The tote bag search now returns 208 pages…
And the gift guide banner is smaller and didnt have the picture of pots on a shelf!
Yes, just tried it. My bags appear on pages 20 & 22…so now all I need to know is what on earth I have to do to get them to appear on the 1st few pages…
I still have the gift guide banner with pots on although I think it may be a bit smaller.
Yes, it’s still the same picture for me, but I think it is a little bit smaller.
Yes, the seven page limit has definitely gone which is good (though like everyone else my oldest work is showing up first when I would prefer my latest (and possibly better?) work to be at the fore).
We still have to get rid of the garish red stickers and restore our shop names. But it’s a relief things are starting to move.
There is still a lot of clumping. A visitor would be forgiven for thinking the only paintings available on Folksy were rabbit ACEOs.
I’m still reluctant to post any more new stuff as it’s likely to end up on page 208 in a paintings search, which is tantamount to invisibility.
OK, so the 208 pages that come up for the tote bag search isn’t all tote bags. I’m not sure why it’s come up with so many pages and If you go to the last page it’s mainly jewellery. I’m not sure how many are totes, but if you use the filter to narrow it down to just tote bags in the sleeves/bags catagory you get 1,475 results which is 30 pages.
I did not want to scare you
Mine are on 22, 30 and 31. I should have one more but I stopped scrolling through after about page 32 . Still pages and pages of obscene mass produced print on demand bags dominating earlier pages.
@samazama I know…it’s depressing…
Caroline @Caroleecrafts …at my age, that is probably a wise move ha ha
Report them if they are breaking the rules. You only need to report one item from any given shop and point out there are many examples and admin will check out the whole shop.
Already have!
Well things are progressing - my shop can finally be found in search. Looks like a few tweaks have been made - here’s hoping it continues in the same vane.
Another update from the team - as some of you have noticed we have been making some changes to search this week, but don’t worry if you’re still seeing problems, there are more to come
We’ve gone through all of the feedback received to identify the priorities and we’ve not finished working through these yet, but wanted to release some of the first changes as we know you’re all anxious about this.
Thank you again to everyone who left feedback - we do really value your thoughts.
We know there have been some comments left by sellers worried that we don’t care about sellers’ opinions due to an earlier comment where we mentioned we were taking time to get feedback from buyers and analysing their behaviour in addition to the seller feedback. This wasn’t intended to mean that we’re only focusing on what buyers think, but that we need to make sure search works for both buyers and sellers.
We know one of the biggest complaints sellers have about Folksy is that they don’t get enough sales here, so we are currently focusing on some work with buyers in mind (and you may have noticed some tests relating to this). This isn’t because we don’t care about what sellers want, but to help increase sales we also need to focus on how buyers use the site. It’s important that we look at the needs of both as with no buyers we’ll have no sellers, and with no sellers we’ll have no buyers.
We understand that it may have felt like search hasn’t been helpful for either recently, but we are working on this.
Also just to clarify another comment made - the Folksy team don’t read every post or even every thread on the forum. This is why we always ask that if you have an issue that requires a response from the Folksy team that you contact support instead, and if there are issues where people are breaking the community policy, that the posts are flagged.
In a thread such as this where we’ve asked for your feedback, we will check back on the responses, but we simply don’t have time to check through everything that’s posted on the forum.
Thank you Kim for the update!
