Folksy search

I knew what it meant but would have to blank out the last word, think it’s the same as ‘milf’ but the male version lol

I just edited 3 of my suncatchers which were in their sequence of listing number on the front screen. They then vanished and mysteriously reappeared all together on page 19 where they were no longer in any obvious sequence.
Ah well i was only editing their first photo as my older photos tended to not be as nice and clean and white and therefore stuck out like a sore thumb on the first search page.
So a little warning… If you have something appearing at the beinning of the search and you want to keep it there.. keep you hands off it, don’t edit it or you might lose it… I searched from page 31 to 19 backwards before i found mine and fortunately there Were only 31 pages.

I honestly do not know whether to laugh or cry. The latter appeals.

Just did a search using ‘The Great Wave’, my notebook showed up in the fist couple of line, but I can’t understand why I seeing lkads of cufflinks decorated with coins ?

More surprising was what on earth was this doing near your notebook in the search.

MOTHERS DAY SPECIAL - Framed Lego custom heart - great gift for mum - mummy

Flumoxed…

I just relisted my shop, everything. Actually so anything i hide doesnt vanish into my expired listing pile.and I have 4 months to sort them out.

I have now lost my most unfair position at page one but occasionally interspersed with other sellers suncatchers.

Every single one of my suncatcher listings now appears starting from page 10, uninterrupted by anything at all from any other seller, right up to page 19.. Not a single thing from any other seller in between any of mine. it’s like looking at my own shop

So if you are at the front and want to stay there… beware relisting… In my case I have hogged it for 3 full weeks so fair’s fair ..:rofl::rofl:

Search is still well and truly broken. Instead of only returning 7 pages of irrelevant results it now returns 208 pages of irrelevant results.

A search for “get well soon card” came up with 208 pages containing jewellery, hair accessories, pot holders, lampshades, scarves, clothing, cross stitch patterns of trees, notebooks, home decor, decorations, and a myriad of other items that are most definitely not get well soon cards.

20 days and still nothing has been fixed.

Well I’ve decided I won’t be relisting anything at all until this awful search is sorted. No point throwing good money at it if nothing is being seen.
The clumping issue was bad before, but now…….

While my shop was unreachable via search I thought perhaps I could put my shop name in tags & description to see if it would pick it up during item search. I tried it with a couple of items which did appear on page 1 but not at the top of the search - not sure why when the search term is ‘orchard felts’ items with no reference to that term appear before mine which have the term in tags/description. It also returned 173 pages of results … I doubt there are that many references to 'orchard felts" on Folksy!!
Having said that I think I may start including my shop name as a tag and in description as someone searching for my shop may not see the tiny ‘search for shops’ link.

It is worth doing. If I search Deborah (which my stats tell me is a very frequent search) I get all my items come up.

Seems to be picking up the word Great, as it appears in the framed lego heart "great gift for mum’ in the title, same as the coin cufflinks ’ great gift’ or for the wooden bird box, ‘great family fun’ or some cufflinks with images, ’ great image’ in the title

If holiday mode is on a shop search no longer finds your shop, my shop just does not exist, at least on the old system items didn’t show up in search results but a search for shop name did bring up your shop. No point in being on here at all.
@Folksyadmin can this be sorted please, at least before it took us to the shop, to any customers looking for a shop on holiday mode they will never return because it doesn’t bring us up at all, it’s not a very fair system when the wooden spoon at the very top of the search page has been there the last 3 weeks and is ‘Not Available’.
Can we at least have the same rule for all shops.
Perhaps if I marked every item in my shop as unavailable I would turn up in search, on the first page even.
It is not fair when the same some shops have been featured on that search page throughout all of this but even more unfair when a shop that currently has their items unavailable is at the very top of the results.

I agree, as the searches seem to pick up on words anywhere in the description, title or tags. On the tote bag search I checked the last page (208) which has a variety of items. Some earrings came in an ‘organza bag’ and a photograph came in a ‘cellophane bag’ so I assume it’s picking up ‘bag’ and showing everthing with bag anywhere in the listing. To narrow down the search to just tote bags you need to use the fiter, but I would still like to know how the search prioritises the results.

Despite my gold leaf watercolour art being tagged with just about every relevant tag none of it shows up at all in the search.

At least it seems to put the actual tote bags first before moving on to other items that may mention bags. So a prospective buyer scrolling through can give up when the items start to go off topic! I just searched Jewellery Roll and the first half page came up with correct items but then moved on to things that used the word ‘roll’ so I was faced with toilet roll holders! And also plenty of jewellery. Didnt look beyond page 1. I would imagine there is enough jewellery on Folksy to fill all 208 pages, even if it wasnt what the searcher was looking for it wouldnt be doing any harm. As long as all the relevant items from all shops come up first it doesnt matter too much what comes up on subsequent pages. That is a vast improvement on the 7 page limit when lots of relevant items were not offered to the searcher.

None of this has been fair for over 2 weeks despite saying it numerous times.
I don’t know what we have to do to get our items seen anymore when tags, descriptions and titles have no effect yet other shops have taken up 5 pages on one search out of the 7.
I had a browse this morning and there were a couple of hundred pages for a search that doesn’t have that many items and most of the items were totally irrelevant. I’m not bothering anymore, my shop has been invisible all this time so now I might as well keep it on holiday mode.

I’ve actually moved all my artwork into another Folksy shop as I do think that sometimes specialising in one thing gets slightly more sales, but who knows.

Well you would hope so but if we are invisible it won’t matter because nobody will find us to buy anything

I found it rather amusing.. well not funny at all really when i decided to try the shop search using the shop names that Folksy gives in its Selling Blog.

I only managed to find One shop out of six via the search by typing the shop name exactly as shown into the shop search. A couple of others were there but either the shop name was shown incorrectly in the blog or the search just failed to find it. Of the 3 others i found them by google / their social media. Two were empty and the other not there at all. (Great advert really, show reviews by six sellers, 3 of which no longer appear to sell here :rofl )
I wondered why the actual links to the shops were not given. That explains it :rofl

Shop Search… Is there a thumbs down emoji ??

My own shop can only be found by typing it in exactly without spaces which is the way I like it as it is my very own professional business name !.. but people often type if with spaces so Joys of glass and pretty astonishingly really, that fails to find any trace of me…
Lots of Joys and Joy and even a Joyce and lots of Glass in the title but not me. Why is that search restricted to 48 shops ?

And why on earth are the search results landscape shaped boxes chopping off the randomly selected from our shop picture. Must admit i wouldnt be choosing a Star in April to promote my shop but there you go.

The whole thing is totally random and a total disastrous mess, same as the rest of this search. If I had bought it from Tesco I would take it back !

Well you are at least one up on me and can find yours if you type it in exactly … ah well I will pour another Gin .. I thought I read there had been some improvements   :joy:ha ha can’t even use emojis they are turned into text. We have to laugh, better than the other option, have enough gins and I will no longer care lol
Oh at least my emojis are showing now I have gone onto my tablet

I wonder what i should try changing it for and i didnt use any filters

Actually There Are No Ffilters on the shop search page. !!!
This Dreadful search issue is wearing out my Exclamation mark.

Could we rename it from Sea’rch’ to ’ Pot Luck’ or even’ Lucky Dip’ ?
