I’ve just come across this http://www.justacard.org It seems to be about supporting handmade and it seems to be supported by Mollie makes and the design trust so it seems pretty genuine in its intentions.
The twitter feed seems to be full of ‘support independents and handmade’ sentiments.
It seems like it should be appropriate for all of us here?
I think this is a great campaign and have shared it on both Facebook and Twitter. I sell a lot of cards whenever I’m exhibiting as lots of people can’t afford to buy prints or paintings. I’ve even known people to frame the cards they buy. I’m always grateful to anyone who opens their purse to spend their valuable cash on something that I have made. It makes me really happy!
Yes! This is a great idea to promote. I have been taking part on my Instagram account.
I always bear the sentiment in mind, of buying (at least!) ‘just a card’ when I’m visiting craft fairs, galleries, independent sellers etc. I end up with lots of lovely cards to use as birthday and ‘thank you’ cards and hopefully the £s all add up for the sellers.
Yes! I am taking part in their Just A Card Week challenge on both Twitter & Instagram, it’s brilliant. So, so much wonderful work to see & lovely people to ‘meet’ - have a look & share it!
Judging by their recent Instagram posts the people behind it are at a crossroads with where they are going with the campaign.
They’ve been asking for people to visit the website and sign up for their mailing list for news as it sounds like they need to take a little time out to look after themselves and see where they are heading.
By the sounds of it they don’t want to give up and are asking people to take over and help spread the word while they are recharging their batteries.
I did a small blog post today (my first since 2015!) as a little something to try and help. I’ve been trying to find a way to get back into blogging and thought it might be a nice idea to do something for someone else (instead of talking about myself ) as these people seem to have done a lot to help others
