I had an order come through today which is still awaiting payment. I contacted the customer and she said that the option to pay by PayPal without registering with them was not available and that offering this option is up to the seller. I have looked at my account but cannot find it. Am I missing something? Or do I need to go through my Paypal account?
I am not 100% sure bur I understood that Paypal was the only payment processor used by Folksy. You cannot opt out. I believe your customer is mistaken.
Yes, there is something in the paypal account settings that allows buyers to pay by credit card rather than by paypal account, so they don’t need to register with paypal if they don’t want to. I can’t remember exactly where it is but it must be in the selling options somewhere.
Do you have a business or premier account on paypal? I have a feeling the option is only available to business account holders.
Leslie @ManiacalMosaics - The payment is still processed by paypal, but the buyer doesn’t need to have a paypal account.
I’m still using a personal account on Paypal (have done for for years, just never got round to changing to a business one) and my account accepts credit and debit card payments. To be honest, I don’t remember changing anything to be able to do that, I thought it was just a link at Paypal checkout that the customer chose that bypassed having to set up an account and just allowed them to pay by card. Might be wrong though, it was a long time ago that I set up my Paypal.
@ciesse as I said above, Paypal is the only payment processor offered by Folksy. Everything needs to go through them, whether using a Paypal account or not and like JoSara, my Paypal account has always accepted credit and debit cards without registration of my customers. Mine is a business account but I’'ve never optimised my settings specifically. You do have to opt in to accepting e-cheques or it will not allow the customer to send funds in this manner.
Thank you to all of you, that’s been really helpful
I do have a business account with Paypal and I’ve been through and checked my account and I do have it switched on to accept payments from customers who do not have a Paypal account. I may just have to contact my customer and ask her to check her Paypal account I think.
I’ve chosen the credit card option more than 5 times myself, even though I have a paypal account - sometimes I just prefer to pay by credit card instead. It has never stopped me doing it, so maybe they have lifted that restriction.
Yes but you are a have a paypal account. There is a guest option for non paypal members to use paypal as a guest but they only get to do that a certain number of times before paypal asks you to sign up to paypal.
