Help with temporary shop closure?

Hello all,
Im hoping for a bit of advice please? Currently I am just a bog standard seller, no plus account, Im having a big re think of my work, my shop, the direction my artwork is going and life in general just now and am wondering what happens if I shut up shop here for a while and how to do it?
I could put it in holiday mode I guess, but thinking things may go in a completely different direction art wise and I think I would just like to shut the whole shop, BUT, if I do that will I lose my shop name, bio etc etc or is there a way I can shut it for a bit but not lose it as Im fairly certain Iā€™d want to come back?
Would I just take all the stock from my shop and leave it empty but ā€˜thereā€™ if you see what I mean?
I have been clicking about on Folksy and some shops just say ā€˜this shop is currently emptyā€™ others are on holiday and others just redirect right to Folksy home page, so Iā€™m guessing the latter are completely gone and thatā€™s not what I want.
Sorry if all this is a muddle, just typing what Iā€™m thinking and hoping someone can make sense of what im asking?
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance x

Why not out on holiday mode until you make a decision, or empty the shop and let it remain empty.

If you want your shop to look empty to avoid any contacts from prospective buyers why not move everything into hidden and then put into holiday mode and just let it sit for as long as you like. You could always put a note in your ā€œShop Announcementā€ perhaps just saying you are taking an extended break if that felt appropriate. Sometimes we do need some time out with a blank sheet to assess where we are

Thank you both @Caroleecrafts and @ccbandatp I was kind of hoping that my assumptions were correct and that the shop would remain if I empty the shop, so thatā€™s good news, never even realised I could ā€˜Hideā€™ everything either, so thanks for that too.

You can ā€œhide from saleā€ a page at a time if you go to listings in your account. Click in the box next to ā€œrelishā€ to tag everything on that page and then click on ā€œhide from saleā€ a bit further to the right from the blue ā€œrelistā€ button.

I hope you find your way through your reassessment. Sometimes itā€™s good to take a break and think around things - but I do hope you will find that Folksy is where you want to be. Good luck!

And ditto @JudyAdams - you must follow your nose but hope it leads you to stay here - amongst anything else you choose to do :grinning:

Thank you Judy, Iā€™ve no plans for a permanent closure, Iā€™m just trying to figure out if I want to take my work in a different direction, or if indeed I continue to do what Iā€™ve always done, I couldnt stop making marks on paper, my sanity depends upon it, love it here on Folksy so I definitely wonā€™t be leaving. One of the things I love about Folksy is that generally other sellers are so kind and so supportive.

Aw I hope you come to a decision and reopen with fresh ideas Lynn. Iā€™m always coming up with new ideas of what i would like to do but donā€™t always get around to them and I too question my shop and which way I should continue. I think itā€™s a good idea to have a temporary break while you find your feet again, try new things etc and follow your heart.

Iā€™ve been wondering whether to take some items out of my shop as Iā€™m not happy with how it looks right now, I have reduced some and one part of me thinks my shop would look better without some of the pieces and I would rather just have high end items again. Then the other half of me thinks they may sell so I should leave them there until they do,itā€™s sometimes hard to know what is the best way forward.
Iā€™m excited to see what your new ideas are, I hope they involve painting as your artwork is beautiful
Good luck with it all x

Thank you Debby, Iā€™m not giving up painting, I couldnā€™t, Iā€™m just looking at going in a different direction. I may end up staying exactly as I am but my head is fizzing with ideas so who knows. X

Lynn @PaintedHorseArt hope a little break helps I am another with too many ideas (not all of them good) and think it is a good thing to step back and take stock when you feel the need - take care x

I hope the break from Folksy frees up your creativity to come back refreshed and look forward to seeing where it leads you.

Thank you Christine, it may not lead anywhere, but who knows.

Thank you, x Iā€™m still trying to decide what to do, I donā€™t much like this feeling of dithery ness as im one of those folk who normally makes a decision and just runs with it come what may, like you though sometimes not all ideas are good are they?
