How long did it take you to get your first sale?

How many items did you have listed in your shop?
How many different types of items did you have?
Did you promote? Where? How often?
Newbie needs advice!
Thank you and happy selling!

Hi! Welcome newbie! Your folksy shop will need promoting to get more sales, but a few do come from within folksy. I would suggest each shop has at least 25 items, but then again it depends on how desirable your items are! Good luck! xx

Thank you

welcome to folksyā€¦I started off with 2 items and it took 3 months for my first sale. My ā€œpersonalā€ advice is to list one or two items at a time rather than loads.
This is my take on it.
If you go to the high street and there is a new shop, you look in the window to see what is there. If you go back the following week and the same items are still in the window, and the next week, and the next, then you stop lookingā€¦whereas if you notice that there is always something new to see, then you keep coming back to take a look.
Good luck

I think itā€™s best to specialise in one type of item, have good branding and have a good idea who your target customers are. Good photos are essential and you need to promote as much as you can so that people become familiar with your products. Folksy is a great place to sell. I hope you do really well on here.x

Iā€™ve just looked at your shop and your branding, items and photos look good to me. I would be attracted to your shop. Maybe design your own banner, using some of your art work and get promoting. Your shop looks really good. Iā€™ve favourited your shop and a couple of your items.

Thank you @MaisyMuffin Happy to hear that you like my shop

Listing a few at a time also means you donā€™t end up with your whole shop delisting on the same day

So how about sales? How long did it take you guys? Iā€™m expecting that itā€™s going to take some time but wondering how long it might be.

About a month but this was 6 years ago, sales donā€™t seem to come by as easily these days (not sure if itā€™s the economy or that there are more crafters selling online)

Welcome! You have a lovely shop. I took about a month before I got my first sale and then waited a few more months before the next. Then it started to pick up. I didnā€™t promote very much at the start as social media was all very new to me, but you do need to promote regularly and list things little and often like the other sellers have said. Good luck.

Hi and welcome I love your shop especially your foxy things which I have favourited.
It took me about 2 months to get a sale and things were slow to begin with I despaired of ever getting into double figures but happy to say my shop Is doing well now as I head towards 150 sales. You have to promote and network in which ever way works for you whether it is Facebook or Instagram (which I prefer) best of luck to you.

@HandmadeByDiane @HookandLoop @rainbowsnmore you have beautiful shops! I am amazed at the creativity I have discovered on Folksy already.
I was hoping though that Folksy has more internal traffic. I want to reserve my social media promoting for my own website but even if I donā€™t do well as a seller I will stay as a buyer for sure

This is so great to read and congratulations. I moved to folksy from Etsy and currently try to list all my items. I can see that the engagement us so much bigger than on Etsy but still no sale though. Maybe it will happen but it is hard to wait.
