OK, it’s the end of a long day, I’m feeling fractious and tetchy (first day back after a 2 week holiday, and I’ve kind of had enough…), which is probably why I’m sitting here swearing and grumbling over HS codes!
I’ve got an overseas order, and need to work out what code to use for it - which made me think: We’re all probably using very similar codes for our work, is there a way (and would it be useful) if we shared the codes we’ve shortlisted for our work?
The ones I’ve got noted and hope are right for my items are:
Greetings cards - 4909000
Paintings - 9701100000
Prints - 4911910090
Magnets - 850519
Flash cards - 9504400000
Someone helped me with mine, I think it was Sasha @SashaGarrett
blanket - wool : 63012000
blanket - cotton: 63013000
blanket - synthetic: 63014000
(if its a blend go with which ever is the main component)
baby clothing (knitted or crocheted) - cotton: 61112000
baby clothing (knitted or crocheted) - synthetic: 61113000
baby clothing (knitted or crocheted) - wool: 61119011
I was a bit confused about prints - I had 4911910090 down, but then it says “illustrations or pictures not bearing a text or caption”, so I’m not sure if that one applies if there’s any wording involved (most of my prints are personalised, so include some wording). I was thinking maybe 49119100 might be more general but not sure!
I’m also always confused about wall plaques - I do some that are wood, some that are acrylic and not sure if this is the right one?
97019000 Collages and similar decorative plaques, executed entirely by hand, whether or not framed
@PhotoFairytales Luckily mine are all textless. It’s a while since I actually had to use a HS code, the last time I filled in a customs sticker my post office was still using the old ones that only needed 6 numbers (so that difference wouldn’t have mattered on those). Do the new ones require the longer number or are they still 6 digits?
Well, I’m no expert (!!), but from what I can tell it depends how far you drill down with the codes - they seem to be a bit like flowcharts, so the further you go with the accuracy of your item, the longer the code is. That’s how I see it anyway!
