Hi everyone,
If I post a link to a specific item in an Instagram post the link is inert - it is dead as a dead thing.
Anyone else have this problem or know what I am doing wrong?
They used to work from Etsy. God I hate Etsy.
Thanks!
Molly

Links in Folksy descriptions aren’t clickable (you need to copy paste them into a browser window) so I wouldn’t expect a link to an instagram post to work. Or have I misunderstood your problem - are you talking about links in instagram that are connecting to Folksy?
Hi Sasha,
Yes, I added the link for a specific item to the Instagram post for that item and it isn’t clickable. the only way is to direct ppl to your profile and hope they can be bothered to go to the shop as a whole from the link there.
They work if you add them to Pinterest but they have a separate area to post the ink.
I see no reason why a link to a Folksy item shouldn’t be active.

I dont think you can put any clickable links in Instagram posts.
You Can add a link if you do a story and you can then save the story in your higlights.
You can also sometimes find your listing in the product list and add it as a link… having said that don’t think i’ve ever found any of my own products in the Folksy list… think if they get any included its only from their own favourites.
Oh. ok. Thanks!
I’m new to all of this and my brain is a bit buggered by it all.
I literally have no idea what any of that means…
Ho de hum.
I prefer Pinterest.
If you look at my latest IG Story And my latest (not the pinned) post for my jewellery you will see that both have clickable links to my listings.
I just did a test. The only time you can do a clickable link on a post to something in your Folksy shop is if it is in Folksy Favourites. If it is then you can hit Tag Products and then select Folksyhq as the shop and type ‘a’ or anything into the search and all the products they have in their catalogue at that time will appear. As far as I can tell they only add Folksy Favourite listings to their catalogue so that is all you can tag. I have my hare and my red parrot in favourites so could select those to tag, if i wanted to, but nothing else.
Thank you!
I have followed you on IG.
I have just had a good look at your instagram (lovely work btw!) and I can’t see that anything has a link.
Yep normally people will click on the main link you have added to Instagram. Annoying but I often visit other shops this way and you see other items in their shops that you like too x
