I think they have over 300 items in their shop…mass production…not good…no wonder people on Folksy get cross.
Got my licence years ago as well James…lol…

I’ve got a motorbike licence so we’re sorted, off we go! An HGV licence is still on my bucket list…maybe one day hey.
One of our girls has a HGV,she drives a horse box so big there is only one route out of town for it,even then the police have to stop the traffic for it to negotiate some junctions, she is a better man than me,I can do without that.
She does bake exceedingly good cakes though.
We may be a tad old to be bikers now though, shame, the Angels are not a bad crowd when you get to know them and skilled too they build most of their own bikes themselves and know just which steel to use for what part.
I thought I was going to die when I confronted one for stubbing a ciggarette on our Labrador, the poor guy turned intoan apologetic wreck, the dog had backed into the ciggarete by accident,it hurt him more than the dog.
good morning all…I was up at 3.20 to take my daughter to meet the coach for her to go to Italy…seems like I have been up for ages now…lol…is it bed time yet?
I have just listed a fantasy aceo…and I have already painted 4 more this morning…
.
Well done for standing up to the biker James, even if it did turn out to have been an accident.
It seems we are more than set for a bike/HGV tour somewhere
Lovely aceo Brenda, you’re so prolific - although if you have been up since 3.20 that helps. I hope she has a great time in Italy, somewhere else I’d love to visit one day.
I thought you might all like to see this…I created a digital outline of one of my girls which I can print out and use as a colouring page. I printed it out and did a bit of doodling and used coloured pencils on her:
3.20? Unheard of,a gentleman never rises before 10 and that includes my cat.
You got some lovely work done though Brenda.
An intricate piece of work, lovely, well done.
I only got up that early because I am a good Mum James…lol…Our daughter was going on holiday and had to get to the coach at 5 am…it is only 10 mins in the car to the coach park and of course (ha ha) I have to make sure she goes…I will now change the locks ha ha…
I couldn’t see the point in paying a fortune for a taxi for such a short journey …and anyway she will have to look after me in my old age, so I have to be nice…lol…
I did 4 aceos this afternoon…I could have done 8 but my eyes are tired now…
chat tomorrow…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Love all that work in the hair Dawn…I would really have been cross eyed by the time I had done that…lol
LOVE your painting Brenda, the thumbnail reminds me of Emerald city.
Lovely work Dawn! The way you’ve coloured her hair with that pattern is so cute!
I’ve done some digital work today too actually.
I’d love a tablet sometimes, but I like doing traditional work… but sometimes it’s just fun to colour on photoshop. Sometimes I like scanning in doodles and taking them a step further.
Here’s a doodle I coloured in.
“Life’s hard when you have to wait for a cup of Tea”
Ha ha Lowri …life is impossible without a cup of tea…lol
Running late today…
here is today’s painting
.
Brenda the card has arrived and it’s perfect, I LOVE IT! I knew you’d do a much better job on the cartoon than I could ever do. Thank you
He told me last night that he chose a pink cast at the fracture clinic yesterday so I’ll add a bit of colour before I send it off.
Hi everyone, thanks so much on my drawing. It was just a bit of fun but relaxing.
Lowri, I love the way you’ve coloured your doodle
Ha ha on him choosing a pink plaster…reminds me of 4 years ago when I broke my arm…A really butch man came in with his wife. He had broken his leg and he chose a pink cast…his wife nearly fell off her chair when she saw it…she said that she couldn’t wait for this mates in the pub to see it…lol…
Glad the card was ok.x
Good morning, just popped in to say hi :wave no idea where my time is going at the moment I just seem to have a lot on, lovely landscapes Brenda, and well done Sara on reaching that milestone
loving the doodles. I love my i-pad and have several art packages on there I enjoy the challenge of a graphic which is based on simple shapes that you shade and colour, but I also love creating backgrounds using digital pastels and pens, the cover on this book is a print of a digital picture that I created then coloured in
Morning all, I LOVE what you’ve done there Max - so creative!
I’m debating whether or not to list some original paintings. I have no idea how to price them for one thing and another - I’m not sure if what I do is going to be to many people’s taste. But then I suppose you never no until you try. I think I’m having one of those days where I doubt myself hahaha
Have a great day everyone!
Dawn, I am always changing my prices…never know exactly what to charge…sometimes people say my prices are too low, so I put them up…no sales…so I put them down…no sales…lol…hey ho…I just keep painting…probably all my stuff will end up on Bargain Hunt…lol
Love those Max…I am still filling my journal that I got from you…I just love opening the pages…and drooling…(I think I need therapy,…ha ha)
Waving to everyone…hope you are all having a good day…
Here is yesterday’s painting, just listed.
.
You cannot account for taste, some of my work that pleased me least turned out to be big favourites.
Price? A matter for you but bear in mind that some think expensive must be good, some love to drop hints about how much they paid and of course some will pay because they love what you have created.
At least don’t sell yourself short, cover the time you have spent, art IS a proper job and you need to be paid for it.
Thanks for the advice Brenda @GweddusArt and James @gingakats - I will have to have a good think. If I had three wishes, one would be that I could just paint and somehow they would sell (without any promotion or listing or that tedious stuff) and I could make a living from it. Now where is that Genie?
So Brenda, it seems high prices = no sales and low prices = no sales lol
I guess I have nothing to lose (apart from listing time…) as I have the plus account anyway.
Put it this way,if you don’t paint then you will have nothing to sell so you would never know.
I hate the promotion,it’s a bind, but do it now and the genie may awaken and people will seek your work without it if you can get followers.
I did start to build a following in Ohio,Oaklahoma amd Canada on my personal facebook, the business page seems hopeless, but alas the personal account fell by the wayside as it got bombarded with all these positive thinking posts,I know I am an individual whose glass is half full but in the Sahara I would still die with only half a glass either way.
I suppose none of us will ever have the answer to good pricing. I know that if I thought I could get it, I would put my prices up but I have tried it without success…I have now put my aceos down from £6 to £5 and I am selling off my crochet because I cannot find enough storage room for it. On the auction site I sell everything that I list…sadly I think that it is due to the system where your work comes to the top of the viewing pages just before it delists and so people can see it …whereas you are never sure exactly “where” you are on the search pages on Folksy.
I know of one person on the auction site that lists all his paintings 12 x 16 at 99p and he makes a fortune…some sell for 99p and others get good prices…and I also know of someone who also does well on there starting her paintings at £10 for a 7x5"…
I just wish we all knew the answer. Folksy is a lovely place to be and it is just a pity that not many people seem to have heard of it. Perhaps if EVERY shop owner donated £1 a year to get a series of ad’s on tv it might help…
I know that the other side had a tv campaign last year and now a lot more people know about it. I also appreciate that Folksy is a lot smaller but there are apparently thousands of shops on here so £1 a year might just do the trick.
