Some of mine are soo long I run out of the character limit so I don’t think length matters. What does matter to search robots (eg google) is the order of the info - it considers anything in the first 2 paragraphs to be the most important and I’ve heard that if it doesn’t find what it is looking for in the first 2 paragraphs it doesn’t bother looking any further. At the moment each of your paragraphs is a single sentence so maybe by rejigging them you will do better with google searches.
I actually don’t put more than two paragraphs in my descriptions now because of Google. The second paragraph is just a description of my packaging and all the meat is in the first one. I can’t say I’m happy about it, because I like to write with a bit of style, but Google dictates…
Great advice from Sasha and I really don’t think your descriptions are off- putting in their length anyway.
Your shop is absolutely gorgeous and I’m sure you will do well nearer Christmas. From your sales so far it seems your hair clips are very popular, so maybe you could keep adding new ones to lure people to your shop so that they will know where to look when they need bigger gifts!
I’ve just been reading your descriptions - I love them, you’ve managed to get so many key words in that first paragraph. Thanks for your help and inspiration.
This 2 paragraph thing is not an excuse to let your grammar, punctuation or spelling slip - the google robots might have their requirements but customers do like a well phrased, easy to read descriptions with all the info in a logical order.
