May 2016 Art Thread

Thank you for your lovely comments, I am a great fan of your work, I paint but close up more botanical style, I doubt if I will ever master landscapes the way you do,just take it that I favourite all of your work all of the time.
Just noticed I am signed in as gingakats studio, atalanta nine to five is my other shop,I shall probably merge the two.
Thanks again, visits have been a bit sparse lately and your your comments brightened my darkness.Love the fantasy painting, I have just reached the big 7 oh but there is still room for fantasy in my life.

James, I am fast heading to the same milestone…in December…I will need to renew my driving licence too…old age is grand and yes STILL plenty of time for fantasy stuff so you are in good company…we wrinklies should stick together.
Your work is fab.
I have just done this relist…

That is fab,the light, composition, everything. I suppose you know about pricing your own work but I think it is worth much more. An old lady paid me to drink tea and eat her melting moments, she did allow me a ten minute work break each day however, otherwise she would talk at length and one subject was art pricing, she said think of your best price, double it and add 10% for good measure. She had been a high roller and moved in high circles,I saw by her manner, dress and possessions she had been there and knew how it worked. I could say more but these forums make the public domain and I might upset someone, she did explain what a farce the art world is,the real artists like yourself and others here never get the recognition they deserve because of it.

I know James…but I have tried all price ranges without any improvement…such is life and being on a very low pension (I suspect you know all about those…mine is half what it should be due to a government loop hole…they diddled me and nothing could be done about…Spoke to everyone but no help) so I would rather sell and make a few pence here and there than sit waiting patiently for someone who could afford what my art might be worth.I’d like to see David Cameron surivive on £70 a week…so onwards and upwards…and more painting to be done.

They wouldn’t survive on £70 a day,I can only have a car because I am still able to work on it for mot etc. But that is something,I have seen poor people half my age on sticks and in wheelchairs,I am lucky that way. Some that are working are worse off than me,minimum wage, maximum pay out,it’s a crime.

I learnt a new technique today of using damp cotton wool to soften the edges of wet watercolours. It is really very effective and delicate, allowing more colours to be placed in the same area without turning to mud.

I like that a lot,brilliant.

Lovely painting, glad you are on a roll, you have got more go than me,I have one in mind but haven’t got to it yet. I did Get a couple of nice shots of a little Holly Blue though which will help.

It’s good to hear you’ve got time to paint again Brenda.

James I’ve just been over to your shop to look at your lovely landscapes and noticed that Mearsea Island and Gold Country don’t have any size information on them. I didn’t check the rest.

Here are a few new ones from me

If they look familiar that’s because they are actually old ones that have had a bit of a makeover!

Love the purple mountains Stephie…but then I WOULD wouldn’t I…lol
I managed a couple of aceos yesterday…looks horrid blown up huge in my shop…sigh…much better in reality (the correct size)

Stephanie, thanks for pointing that out,I forgot it on all of them so must add size, all A4 so wont take long. You are very prolific these days with lots of lovely work coming our way again.
Brenda, another lovely piece of art,I know what you mean by the enlarged photo’s,if I list a ring it comes out the size of a bangle and every little scratch and flaw shows,of course these defects are invisible to the naked eye when it comes to the real thing. Just had a look at yours and it still looks good even blown up.

Lol James, I paint every day so could very easily take over the thread!

Brenda your painting looks beautiful close up. And, since it does bother you, remember that many people browse the web on their phones these days so they won’t be seeing it over sized anyway.

This is what I did with my new pencil today. If you want to see more of my sketch diary just click on the image

I’ll come back for a proper look and to comment on individual pieces but I’m so tired of the computer today having spent all day faffing about with creating a mailing list (it was simple in the end) and then trying to find a way to make fancy emails (again, easy in the end!).
I’ve been a good girl and made myself a social media plan, so a theme for every day of the week so people will hopefully look forward to regular features.

Anyway here’s a new piece. It’s titled “It’s too difficult to understand”.

Lovely work everyone…I have just listed this fantasy painting.
I love to paint fantasy…I can lose myself in my imaginary world.
Also Hubby treated me to Jean Haines’ latest book yesterday and I spent the afternoon drooling.
Now I am off to paint more in her style…(my favourite)

Good morning just popped by to wave hello :wave

New job has had me super busy this week with barely enough time to list promote and manage the daily listing thread, but I did manage to get to Art Society last night and did a bit more work on the miniatures. Lovely work everyone and it’s good to see you painting again Brenda

Thanks Max…hope the new job is good fun…
Yesterday I painted this floral painting after reading more of Jean Haine’s new book…such an inspiration.
