Lowri @twinkleandgloomart well done for being so organised and making a plan! That is definitely something that I should do, I’m far too haphazard.
Love those daisies Brenda. Is this book more structured than her last one? I find Jean Haines a bit too abstract for my liking, but your is gorgeous. Any new techniques?
Max it’s good to hear that you are finding time to paint. Hope the new job is going well.
STephie…Jean’s new book is totally different and not really about techniques and painting it is more about healing through art…meditation etc…so it won’t teach you anything that you don’t already know…it is just inspiration through colour…VERY different, but as I have always studied all things SPiritual…then I love it. If you have read “The Secret” then this is the Secret through art.
Today I have a new aceo…
.
Sounds good! I’ll order it through the library first - I have a new policy of not buying books unless I’ve seen them in the flesh and have tried them out first as I don’t have room to store a lot of books. I’ve just ruthlessly cleared out the bookshelf, keeping only those books that I regularly look at or that have sentimental value, so that I can store art materials in pretty boxes in their place.
This is what I’ve been working on. Time to stop and assess for a week or two…
One definite change is the centre of the poppies - they are dark green with green/yellow glitter but for some reason they read as the same blue as the sea, so my poor little poppies look like they don’t have any centres!
Edit: the centres have been through a few variations already: dark green with black glitter - too dark; dark green with red glitter - too similar to the rest of the poppy; dark green with black AND red glitter - so far so good
have fun Stephie, not got around to listing these yet I need to take proper pictures but this is one of the finished miniatures, ink and acrylic I found the frames in the Range Stephie, they are resin and look quite ‘rustic’ I painted them myself with acrylic base and gold ink top coat,
That’s lovely Max. Thanks for the tip on the range… I only managed to get one mini frame as that was all they had! The assistant said they used to have loads but haven’t had new stock for ages. I also bought one larger frame to try with my national graphic mixed media pieces, and some D rings for the back of my tiles. Quite a boring visit really, much improved by a walk along the beach afterwards
Great work ladies…I have a few busy days with son coming to visit for the week…but I hope to get more painting done in between chatting…
Max…I have sooooooo many paints…including acrylics…I need to get more painting done…lol…Just picking up tubes of paint makes me drool…
It’s a midori style travellers notebook (made with fake leather) containing a hand stitched 300gsm watercolour notebook inside and I am ridiculously pleased with it
That is lovely Max…I am still adding paintings to the beautiful journal that you made and that I bought from you…These books are to be treasured for generations to come…make more of the Stephie…they are great as well.
I’m seriously considering whether they would fit in with my shop? They are art related so I might make a couple more and give them a go - I really enjoyed making that one. And I know you and Max sell other things as well as art and seem to do well at it…
Loving your fantasy landscapes
Here are my two listings for today, I’m slowly working through my shop unifying the photos. Remember our piece of string challenge?
