I have tried all pricings and if I put my prices up they just don’t sell…Baffles me…I have quite a few larger paintings listed and never a sniff.
I appreciate that with larger works, people need to have wall space and need to really love what they see, so I know it is difficult, which is why I tend to stick to aceos…so it will be very interesting to see if the shop I am thinking of, gets any sales.
I know that I undersell myself but I would rather have a pound here and there than nothing.
Lovely painting Inky And i love your diary Steph- very visual. Lovely lovely.
Pricing is so difficult isn’t it- I try and make cheaper originals available- but if I’m honest, I’m reluctant to sell originals. I’m open to offers if someone wants to give one a home, but in general i won’t list them, this is why I sell prints. Sometimes I wonder if artists that put big prices on their work do so because they secretly don’t want to part with them.
Oh- new piece
Thanks Lowri. That’s a good point. Yes I think prints are the way to go.
afternoon all, that work done until Tuesday hurah! lovely work everyone. Good to see you here Margaret. I added this one today
So sorry to hear your news Margaret, I lost my dad earlier this year. Hope everything and the funeral goes ok. xx
Thanks Tina, I’m ‘enjoying’ this lull between the stresses of his dying and the funeral. I’m not looking forward to that in one sense but in another I’ll be glad when it’s over. It’s hard losing a parent isn’t it.
I agree Margaret, it’s very difficult to lose a parent. And difficult to lose a spouse too - my Dad found it really hard when my mum died, they’d been together since he was 15 and it was a big shock to be living alone for the first time in his life at 75.
Here’s a duck I met at Martin Mere earlier on this month. Any idea what type he is?
I painted him using my fine point Posca pens and a water wash to begin with, followed by just the pens, then another pen and wash layer to add lowlights, and a final highlight with the white. The beauty of these pens is that they are acrylic so you can go dark over light and light over dark, and once dry they’re permanent so extra water washes doesn’t spoil the underneath layer.
He could be a Mallard, the green head is developing as he’s a male and he’s preparing for the breeding season in the spring. Lovely painting, and I find it fascinating to read how you’ve painted him.
I’m gearing up to get painting again now that I’m finally coming to the end of my tiger cross stitch after working on it since August!
I bought this months Leisure painter magazine this morning and will try a simple watercolour of an iris tomorrow. I’m also looking into what workshops and demos will be at the Sandpiper studio on the Wirral this year. I want to go to the Fabio Cembranelli two day course in October and a couple of others including Rachel McNaughton, who I went to last year. I’m in the mood for planning and putting in place some things to look forward to in the coming year
I figured it was a while since any of us shared techniques, I’m glad you found it interesting Enjoy your painting tomorrow.
Love the blog Maxine. What a lovely gift to get for Christmas, I’ve seen it on Create and Craft, I’m sure you will use it to it’s full extent. Marg. x
Good afternoon, lovely work everyone. I have just been to the range, I was good (not a bit haha), had an idea for some 8 x 8 cards so I relly needed the stock lol!. Thank you Marge @memicrafts :). I’ll just show this today some of you may remember a mixed media canvas I did a while ago? now sold but I loved the girl illustration so tried my hand at wall decor using another version of the ‘Rain Girl’ slightly different but Ithought they would sell as wet room or utility decorations? what do you think?
Great idea Max, and it’s lovely to see you make so much use of your new toy. Can you cut out of thin perspex for a wet room? I’ve done bathroom paintings before that have had multiple coats of varnish both front and back, but I wouldn’t put anything paper based in a wet room. It would have to be something that is properly washable.
I love the girl looking up, it feels so joyful!
Just want to explain my new commenting strategy for this thread - if I like your work I’ll drop a like on your post, and I’m only going to comment where I want to say something extra. I don’t have time to find something to say about every piece individually and I really don’t like the platitudinous ‘great work everyone’, to me it seems insincere. Not that I’m saying that anyone else who uses a similar phrase is insincere, it just feels that way when I try to say it. So please don’t be upset if I don’t comment on your work.
I thought of the Stephie, I used vinyl for this and was planning to mount it on a acetate for framing, I just done one for next weeks blog and framed it, also filmed the machine working, you can’t really see anything though lol! I use the heart for posts and also click through to heart work if I really like it too
Yes, it’s very hard, hope all goes well xx
Thanks Tina
