That’s lovely Sara. The wall art is vinyl, it’s just stuck to my craft room wall, but I did another today and framed it, had an idea for a utility room

I do understand about how ‘fab work everyone’ can sound insincere, I sometimes think it sounds that way when I type it, but don’t know how else to comment generally on everyone’s work when I don’t have the time to comment individually.

It’s a dilemma isn’t it, and I honestly don’t mind if you continue, I just wanted to explain that I’m going for the heart on the post instead

Not a problem, everyone deals with things in their own way.

Talking of dealing with things, I’ve had a lot of time to think since Dad died. For one thing, my New Years Resolution was to try to be less materialistic, in other words, buy less stuff. That, coupled with the fact that my financial situation won’t be as good now there are only two of us in the household has made me think long and hard about all the temptations that come my way here on Folksy. I’ve decided the time has come to move on, though as all addictions are hard to break, I’m giving myself a week to phase myself out. Once the funeral is over next Monday, the new phase of my life begins. I’m going to get back into my painting, I’ll rejoin the art forum I used to be part of and spend more time being part of that arty community that isn’t centred around buying stuff. I’ll probably not delete my account here in case I have presents to buy, but although I’ve enjoyed my seven years as part of this community it’s too full of temptation on every thread to spend money I really shouldn’t, so I’ll bow out over the next few days. It’s been fun, but all things must come to an end. The very best part of being on Folksy is the friends I’ve met, and as most of them are on FB, we can keep in touch over there (just don’t post anything too awesome or I might be tempted again!) See you around for the next few days, then I’ll see you over there!

Perfectly understandable Margaret, and although I’ll be very sad to see you leave this thread in particular, as you say we’re still in touch on fb. I try my best not to have the hard sell on my fb page so hopefully you’ll still be comfortable visiting me there. Which art forum will you be moving to?

It seems such a long time since November when I took a day out of my holiday in Tenerife to wander around the town sketching people. I sketched this guy playing his drums in Los Cristianos town square. His hands were flying, fingers swinging loosely all over the place while he made the most amazing music with a single drum. Afterwards, when he was packing up, he said that he too was an artist an often did exactly as I had just done.

It’ll be this one:

http://www.jwjonline.net/JWJforum/

I used to post there and it was a lovely supportive community of artists from very beginners to very accomplished. There’s no selling involved, we’re all amateurs, which will probably be for the best. I’ll have to get posting there again, I expect they’ll have had lots of new people join since I was last there but they were all so friendly it won’t be hard to get back into the swing of things.

That’s a beautiful painting, and a great holiday memory for you

Will keep in touch Margaret over on FB and absolutely fully understand, I don’t put very much on my personal page so hopefully will not be tempting you  not sure what I’ll be doing in a few months but finances will be tight for me too, though I have a few ideas but I’m going to need to work hard which means even less time on here to chat lol!.

that’s fab Stephie, I have a sketch book from Morocco that I dip into now and then sketched some street sellers and a snake charmer

Lovely encaustic Kelly, pretty colours

I like your butterfly Brenda, orange my fave colour

Say hello to my favourite blue bird.

I just picked up the latest M&S flower catalogue to make some mini-envelopes from. It’s a free publication and has very good quality paper in it, perfect for my ACEO’s and doll house miniatures.

All the best Margaret. Take care of yourself, and good luck with the Funeral.

Nice to see lots of new work in this thread, it’s difficult to keep up with everything. Love your new silhouette work Max, really lovely. Gorgeous collection of colours Kelever., Brenda, stunning work as always. Stephanie- I love your new pieces, the figure is lovely.

Here’s a scketchbook Marker pen piece and a little mixed media experiment- paint and marker on fabric, with machine embroidered outlines. Im going to work on more tomorrow, and I’ll let the paint dry completely and put it in a hoop so it doesn’t go as baggy.

I love the way you make your paintings work for you Max. This is gorgeous, the beads etc compliment the picture so well.

Lowri machine embroidered art is very effective, and works well with your style. Well done for experimenting
