As you know I have no photo Id and am not prepared to pay for it as licence does not expire until 70 and not going abroad every again. Very frustrating. However just got an email from our local council and they are doing free photo id’s, mainly aimed at the polling stations as can no longer vote without it.
Applied and very easy to do, the hardest bit was getting the photo to the correct size as my computer had other ideas! All done.
Just thought would note here in case anyone else has the same problem and their council may do the same.
I’m in same boat with no photo ID which has been a real pain and I didn’t realise I could apply yet - assumed Scotland would argue the toss on this and haven’t heard that much about it other than at the proposal stage, but just had a look an seems I can apply for one.
I do have an expired passport, which apparently they’ll accept for voting (useless for anything else) and I vote by post so don’t really need to use it for voting anyway, but that’s not why I want it. It would however be really handy to have photo ID for all the other things that are an issue without it. Don’t really agree with the politics behind all this, but as a born opportunist I’m applying.
