It is obviously good practice to promote your products as widely as possible, both within the Folksy listings and on social media.I am a contributor to the Daily Listing and Promotion Challenge on which I try to list a new item every day, try being the operative word. I then also try to create entries in other Showcase listings. But I was wondering if anyone had done any research in whether it is best to use the same product in all the promotions you do that day or if it’s best to use different products in each listing. The latter requires more work but in the former case, you are changing the listings on a daily basis anyway. I would be very interested in other people’s views.
Hi Chris, with reference to promoting your items on Folksy forum showcase threads, I am hoping you are aware that buyers don’t browse the forum and therefore don’t see the threads, only sellers do. Of course sellers can also be buyers, but just be aware that posting on the threads won’t reach your target audience (non-selling buyers).
With reference to promoting on social media, you can post the same products or different ones in different places, it’s entirely up to you.

Thanks for responding, Poppy. Actually, most of my sales do come from Folksy sellers. This is probably because my products are really aimed at people who sell handmade items themselves. I do use Facebook and Instagram but I haven’t yet built up a sufficiently large number of followers to make a real difference. I have tried craft fairs and markets in the past but the best days were always the weekends and I now volunteer for the National Trust on Saturdays so that’s out for the moment. Chris

I have often wondered this too. But, as a frequent browser of the Talk Folksy threads I tend to find it off putting when there is a whole list of latest threads all from the same person all showing the same item. So, assuming others think the same (which I do wonder as often in life I am an odd one out in my thinking !!!) I try and only post the same article in a couple of threads. If I decide to do a block of showcasing posts, then I try to vary the items a bit. This isnt hard and fast, just generally. Sometimes, with a new item, I get so enthusuastic about “getting it out there” it gets put on several threads!!
