I received asimilar email that looked lile a scam. I clicked on the link from my mobile, and it downloaded a file, which then my mobile suggested to open either with an archiving program, an office program or pdf. All three said cant read it.i have malware and mobile securityinstalled on mobile.scannedmy mobile no issues detected.
I forwarded the full email to folksy support:
Invalid order
Hello dear seller about a few days ago,I bought your stuff, but I still do
not get this position in my account, although i have this transaction in my
PayPal account.
I contacted folksy user support, they advised me to contact you attached a

Camilla - if Folksy hasnāt been hacked - did this spammer create multiple accounts to send the e-mails to so many sellers at once? Iām not sure how they could have done this in such a short space of time?
yes they would have used a email generator piece of software in order to send the same messenage many times from different email accounts in the hope that at least one or two will get a response.
Thanks Eileen - Iād still like to know what the virus is supposed to do? Hope it;s not spyware - I wonāt be putting my PJās on in front of the laptop tonight! lol
Thatās pretty much what happened, I think. As far as I understand it, someone wrote a script that automatically set up new user accounts to send the messages to sellers.
Our system detects accounts that send out multiple emails and automatically blocks them as spam, but in this case the script would then just create another account (or was set up to create hundreds). We managed to stop it relatively quickly but thatās how it affected so many sellers.
These kind of spam emails are relatively common but we actually donāt see them that often on Folksy, as our spam filter normally picks them up quickly and blocks them. Weāre making changes to the messaging system now to stop people being able to link out to other sites or pages we donāt trust. Hopefully that will stop this happening again.
I do feel a bit stupid for clicking the link but it was precisely because the message came through Folksy (or looked as if it did) that I trusted it. And I have occasionally had buyers tell me their purchases havenāt arrived so I was worried when I saw the message. I am glad that Folksy are taking responsibility and working out what to do because I am finding this stressful. The dodgy file is still on my phone. It seems to come back each time I delete it.
OK thanks. This message also needs to be emailed to people. Not everyone looks at the forums. I am struggling because I am away from home with very limited and dodgy internet access. This is the first time I have managed to get into the forums since yesterday afternoon and there will be others like me.
Yes I got an email telling me about the scam and not to worry if I had clicked on the link because theyād get back to me. But I havenāt had anything else by email since. Have you? Maybe it didnāt reach me. I am just worried that the subsequent message about changing your password which I found through this thread may not have reached everyone.
Sorry @KBCreations and everyone else. Weāve had some niggles getting together the list of everyone affected. Itās all written though just sorting out the logistics.
