Hi there

I am Mandy and have only just started listing on Folksy - I make beaded necklace and have done done for a while, I have sold at fairs and thought I would try on here - I am quite impatient not a great quality! I would love to know how long it takes to start seeing sales is that too blunt? Please share your shop stories I would love to hear. Happy selling Mandy - Alicelouisebeads

Hi there Alice and welcome to Folksy.
I’ve been with Folksy for about 3 years and it took probably 3 months to make my first sale. The thing I didn’t realise when I first joined is the time you have to invest in promoting your shop and your products through social media, people won’t just find you, you need to put the work in. I’ve had a look at your shop and you have some lovely items. You need to add you social media links, if you have this, to your shop and also your shop link to social media, if you don’t use socials I would strongly advise getting them. I’d also advise you to complete the about me section because people love to know about the makers. Also come to the forums and join in the conversations, people here are friendly and helpful and are also potential customers too.
Good luck with your shop

Hi, I can’t add anything to what Hilary has wisely said, except to add my Welcome to Folksy too, and to wish you every success with your shop.

Welcome to Folksy, I only opened my shop here a month ago although I have been selling for 9 years. I was lucky to get my first sale in my first week, but haven’t had anything since then. I have just set up international shipping and am working on promoting my shop here as my main online shop.

Good luck with yours too.

I was a couple of months before I got my first sale, the first few years were slower but since have just passed 30k in sales. I think the majority of shops that do really well on here tend to have a niche product and their own style or items that tie in with each other which becomes recognisable. As others have said, sales don’t always fall in your lap on Folksy, you have to self promote, If you aren’t already on social media I would choose either Facebook or Instagram. FB is where I started and did really well but it has changed a lot since I joined and nowadays I prefer Instagram, I don’t post to fb as regularly as I should.

Good luck with your shop.

Hello Mandy. Welcome to Folksy.

I’ve been here since 2012 and got my first sale after 9 days.

You’ve already had some really good advice here. I would also add that I’ve looked at three of your necklaces and not one of them told me the length and that would stop me from buying.

Good luck with your shop :pink_heart:
