Show your WIP and come back later to show it completed

@dottiedesigns is having a super theme for today’s British Crafter’s page

which is a Work in Progress challenge. Shares today of the WIP and in a couple of week’s time, shares of the completed work. Fantastic way to promote our work and making for a really interesting page so thought it would make a great forum topic here too.

But if you share your WIP you must come back later to also share when completed. No prizes but brownie points might be awarded

This is my WIP red dish to start you off. I’m most interested to see what colour of red it will be after 3 times in the kiln.

Great theme - I will pop over to BC too. This is my Winter trees work in progress. There’s going to be a stag added in the foreground and lots more details for the trees. Not a great pic but here you go:

Can you guess what it is yet?

(its my new slab of surfite, I have to figure out how I’m going to cut/ polish it into more usable shapes so the next step is to find a felt tip and get drawing on it)

Oh wow

I tried to just type WOW but that wan’t enough letters so I added 7 dots and it asked if that was a full sentence and ignored me when I hit OK. Fussy forum !

What do you cut it with ?

Its a mixture of epoxy and urathane resins so I use a coarse (for me) blade with minimal kerf on a hand saw, then wood files for shaping and many grades of wet/ dry paper for the polish (same as with the fordite). The first pair of earring drops are coming up nicely.

Going to be wonderful. Love the colours. xx

I have these on the go, they will be rings.
They are currently being hallmarked, when I get them back I will finish them and take another pic.

This will be a toiletry bag when it’s finished. I need to add a few hand-embroidered touches to the appliqué and then put the outer fabric, zip and lining together and sew up.

That’s lovely Helen. My red dish is ready too. I’ll post photos when I’ve pulled them off the camera prior to putting dish in my shop.

Thanks Joy. Looking forward to seeing your finished dish.

Here’s my finished dish. It’s had 3 fusings. One full to fuse it all smotthly together. One tac-fused to add the extra border edging which stands proud but smooth edges (don’t like sharp edges on glass !) and a third to slump fuse it into the dish shape.

This is the start of another knitting bowl. It is turned from green mountain ash. Once I have finished hollowing it out tomorrow, it will stand in shavings for a couple of months and then finished. Not a quick process, but the results are worth it.:grinning:
