Still no sales any help

Hello All,

I opened my shop last month but still no sales, does anyone have any tips to encourage sales, I use IG a lot to promote my products.

Just wondered if I am being to impatient

I’m in a similar position, recently asked the same question on here to the lovely folksy folk and the general census is sales are at an all time low because of the news on electric and gas, not to mention school holidays as well, your shop is lovely and products very sellable. Best of luck x

Hi I just checked and according to the Folksy filter on search there are 32835 listings under cards and stationery. That means you are selling in a very big market so you can expect it to take some time for your own cards to get seen.
It is also currently, like nearly everything else here on Folksy and on the other similar art and craft sites, a very slow market. Not surprising given the time of year…holidays and back to school is the quietest time for everyone I’m pretty sure. Add to that the dire crisis warnings from the media everywhere you look and not surprising that people are not rushing to spend their pennies.
I see you also have an E shop and wonder if your sales on there are also slow at the moment. ??
I wouldn’t worry about it. A month is not at all long to establish a new shop here.

PS You mentioned your IG promotion but I notice you are offering 25% off in your other E shop and promoting that far more than your shop here so if anyone found your cards via IG they will surely buy from there instead .
Could you get a better balance in your promotion perhaps because your cards are really good and will surely sell if you can get them seen.

Hi, I would hang in there. It’s been slow for everyone and you just started a month ago, hopefully you’ll make some sales in the Christmas period.

A month is a very short time, for what it’s worth I’ve been here almost a year and sales for me are very slow.
I sell cards and artwork but as @JOYSofGLASS suggests it’s a huge market on here and you need to really promote yourself to get seen. No idea how to help with that though as it’s something I’m still working on.
Your cards are lovely and fingers crossed you’ll have a sale or two soon.

Hi, firstly your cards are really lovely and I wish you lots of luck selling them. I too have had very few sales, but I’m determined to persevere as I do like Folksy and the teams working behind it are great and the people selling are very supportive. Times are very tough, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the future when people have more of an idea where they are. Good luck!

I pretty much agree with what everyone has posted here - times are tough and sales few and far between. Good luck.

When I worked in retail, the start of the autumn term always signalled an upturn in sales. The first few days back, mums came out to do a ‘big shop’ on their own because the children had eaten everything in the house during the holidays. Then they started thinking about Christmas. But goodness knows what way it’s going to go this year. Are they going to be starting early, planning, budgeting? Or leaving it till the last minute? Either way, we have to be ready.

I just came out of B&M bargain store with my head in my hands. Sobbing hysterically
Back to school messages were hammering out of the tannoy system and then…
Turned a corner to find…

An entire alley stacked high with CHRISTMAS Food goodies…

and then…

The Tannoy message shouted at me to start my Christmas shopping early.

There is No Hope for humanity :joy: :joy: :joy:

I was averaging a couple of sales a week, though not at the moment. The economic situation is so dire, I suspect shoppers are waiting to see what help (if any) the Government is going to offer before they spend anything on non-essentials. I’m still getting healthy views, but for window shopping only it seems. Patience is the key. If people are looking, there will be an intention to buy at some point when it feels more comfortable to do so.

Zero sales, zero views. I’ve withdrawn and semi given up on Folksy for a while because my sales had ground to a halt. I used to post almost daily on one thread here and now realise since I stopped doing that, my views have reduced to practically zero, so it must have mainly been other sellers from the thread looking at my stuff! A lot of us are in a flump at the moment, I hope things improve for us all before I (and presumably others) decide to shut my shop.

Since the new search was launched, views have dropped by 75.6% because of the big restriction on the number of results returned. Paying a fee to be invisible is untenable.

I have noticed when I have tested the search not all items are shown, unless I am using the first word in the listing title my items don’t show.
I think this is something I will contact Folksy about.

I’ve also done a lot of tests and none of my listings show either. The search needs to return ALL results, not just 200 where the first word of the listing title just happens to be the same as the first word of the phrase being searched.

I agree, search should show All results, not just the first 200.

Hang on in there. I have just had a sale! Yay! First one since last November, that’s 10 months with no sales. Maybe things will pick up, we can only hope.
