Hi I would like to refund a customer the postage as I can hand deliver instead. I have tried on the Stripe dashboard but I can only refund the whole amount. There is no option to input how much. Any help with this would be great. Thank you
I’ve just had a look at my account as I know I have done this in the past. I am on iPad, so it could look different on another device.
If you go to “transactions” you get a list of them all .
At the end of the relevant transaction info there are 3dots, if you click that it gives you Refund as an option, if you click that a box poppes up where you can enter an amount and write reason for refund.
Hope that helps. Bare in mind that stripe will keep the transaction fee on the refunded amount, so don’t leave yourself out of pocket.
You can refund whatever amount you want. As Deborah says, go to transactions, click on the transaction and then you have an option to refund, you type in how much you want to refund.
And if you refund on day of purchase it knocks it off what they paid. Otherwise it takes a few days to get to them.
I’m not using Stripe yet. I was a little put off by the permissions they request.
How’s everyone finding it?
I would say at least half if not more of my customers here choose to pay by Stripe.
Never had an issue with them.
It is a bit of a palaver to get through the ID check stuff, but I have seen from my dashboard in the past that they have been good at blocking fraudulent transactions. So I am happy with them.
There seem to be quite a lot of people who won’t use PayPal, so it’s good to have an alternative.
Thank you Deborah @DeborahJonesJewellery
3/4s of my customer here use Stripe and on my other sites that is the only option and I am far busier on there than here so obviously not an issue. I’ve used it since 2019 with no problem… ever. AND the fees are less.
If you are hand delivering the order, why don’t you just refund the customer in cash at the same time.
I only activated it at the beginning of the year, and didn’t have to go through any checks, but this can come later on from what I have read on other posts here.
Although it hasn’t brought me new customers, half of my existing ones have been choosing to pay with stripe since I activated it, and from the other half some have stayed with paypal and some others switch between the two.
Haven’t had any problems with it and I have a couple of customers who don’t use paypal, so it is definitely a plus to have it.
That’s exactly what I’m going to do this time. I thought by doing via dashboard would save on some fees but I don’t think it does.
I think the only downside is they hold onto your money slightly longer, unless you pay a small percentage fee to release immediately.
