Your cakes look fabulous! I love baking, BUT, I stopped baking because I’m a pig and just put on far too much weight

I am exactly the same! I came up with a system of cutting them into small portions and freezing them and only taking out one portion at a time. I’m not going to lie: it takes a lot of self-discipline!!

That’s a really good idea, thank you, but yes, my self discipline where cake is concerned isn’t the best!

Oh those cakes! Isn’t it funny that it’s the simple things like a lovely slice of cake and a good cup of tea that can be the best thing for R & R

I am working full time as a carer in a care home and then I am also full time carer for my husband so I don’t have very much my time but when we are out bird watching or other wildlife observation I take my project bag with me . I just love crocheting and I am using every opportunity to do it . Walking and crocheting is my new style of exercise.

I do my knitting or crochet to relax. Also, since loosing mum 18 months ago today, it helps me feel close to her as it was mum who taught me to knit when I was just 4 yrs old. Even just before her passing, we would sit together on a Saturday both knitting, drinking tea and putting the world to rights.

I do also love being outside be that sitting in the garden (I’ve got 234ft of it!) or going out for a drive. I love finding somewhere nice to park up like looking out at sea and just sit there with my thoughts.

Hi, I practice yoga and go for a jog once a week. I try not to watch too many news programmes.

Any suggestions for me time activities in the cold weather?

I’ve just finished reading Thomas Mann’s classic Buddenbrooks. At nearly 800 pages I needed plenty of wine and chocolate in the evenings to keep the pages turning even on a Kindle, and at times accompanied by a hot water bottle. A re-read of War and Peace next?

Sorry forgot I’d already posted here.

My favorite Thomas Mann is ā€˜Confessions of Felix Krull’ a favorite of mine - I haven’t read Buddenbrooks though.

Thanks - I was looking for another by him, I’ll look it up. I enjoyed Buddenbrooks very much, but wasn’t sure which to start as this was the first of his I had tried.

That’s sounds heavenly

Maybe try another craft. Something you can do on the couch with a blanket over you :slightly_smiling_face: something that you can do without having to be perfect so there no stress.
Or play on a Nintendo, I play a game called animal crossing which is very relaxing

Yes the economy is a worrying issue. Ever since I heard about food banks I have seen there is something seriously wrong with our economy and it only gets worse. However, I have a far bigger problem of my own. My husband is back in hospital with long covid since 9th December. It really takes most of my thinking these days!

I listen to music while I work, i was trying to think of something but quite honestly I just work and don’t really have any time off unless we have visitors or we are going out, music is a huge part of my life, we love attending live concerts but when i’m in the house i tend to be sewing bears.
