Waving everyone and whizzing by with my summer holiday challenge painting. This was inspired by one of only 2 holidays ever that I can recall that didnāt involve a beach!
Dashing off to feed the family now, one of them has to be out by 7.30ā¦back later to catch up on the chat.
Thatās brilliant Stephie, and that bit different for you! Iāve enjoyed this challenge, hope there will be another one soon!
lovely scarf Tessa, gorgeous colour!
Back nowā¦thanks Margaret I very much enjoyed the challenge It contains watercolour, tissue paper, newsprint, sand and gesso.
Congrats on your 3 year anniversary Hazel. Margaret was my first sale too - I bet youāve got a cracking collection of first issue original artwork @Louisa15 Margaret
Definitely big thanks to @teabreaks Brenda, without this thread many of us wouldnāt have started painting ACEOs. When I joined 2 years ago I mostly painted A3 size! Iāve mentioned Brenda on my blog in the past as my inspiration for starting to paintin miniature.
Oooh Tessa do let me know what the magic sizing is like. Iāve got a feeling it will act like a sugar resist, but who knows? Gorgeous colours in the scarf, did you use a tie / folding method?
Margaret what a shame you didnāt get your delivery today. Still, itās something to help Monday morning more agreeable.
Iāll be missing in action tomorrow, more uni visiting to do - Sheffield this time.
Have fun in Sheffield, I imagine it will be better for you when the uncertainty is over about which uni is chosen.
Iām running errands for Mum in the morning, opticians and then infirmary for hearing aid batteries, then Iām off on my own for a pub lunch and an afternoon in Tarporley village, which I love
Evening all, many congrats Hazel. Well deserved hon.
Love the mixed media Stephie, Iām dying to get on with mine hopefully tomorrow :
Say hello to Sheffield uni from me Stephie, thatās where I went! The silk was twisted up tightly till it loops back on itself before putting the colour on.
Your mixed media pic sounds fun and looks good.
Thanks, weāre both really enjoying the university trips. Weāve got another 2 coming up over the next few weeks, Exeter and Bristol. The train journeys are fab - very grounding, making us stop charging around from one thing to the next. Although we have done our share of running to catch the connecting train! And then weāll have some more in September before itās decision time.
What did you study Tessa?
morning, probably not around much this weekend Iāve now got commissions to make plus a memory book for a dear friend whoās husband passed away last weekend, a birthday card for my niece and one for my daughters partner and Iāve a vintage fair all day tomorrow! best get cracking but first breakfast
Morning Max that is lovely, all the best with the fair tomorrow
Hope you have a good day Stephie, you are getting to see a lot of the country with all the trips
Thank you everyone for the all the congrats, its been amazing 3 years ā¦ heres to many more
Stephie @StephanieGuy your mixed media painting is fab and very clever, I really like it
I loved doing our little challenge, maybe we can do another one soon ā¦ I will list my little wax ice cream later ā¦
I have also entered a challenge on FB in the Encaustic group, thank you for voting and if you havenāt this is the link, all votes much appreciated https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204673626905756&set=oa.10152095233496146&type=3&theater
Have a good day
Hazel
Thatās gorgeous Max, so pretty.
lovely Hazel, we have some Azelea in our front garden they put on a beautiful display every year.
Thought I would show what I have made this morning, I canāt put either on FB as both people might see them.
This one is for a friend and colleague whos husband passed away last weekend, heād been very ill for a long time with cancer and finally lost his battle on Sunday, so sad and I thought of making a memory book instead of a card. I found the photograph of them on her FB page and used a free online package to create the lovely heart and faded landscape very poignant and perfect for what I wanted to create
and this is the second one itās my daughters partners birthday on Monday a young pup at 30 but I managed to find two pics very similar one as a nipper and one more recent, and used the same package to create the ābookā. I love this package though itās very unlikely they would let you sell items using pics created on their site but theyāre fine for personal use. I may just look into any commercial ones I could make fabulous personalised books and things
Fab azaleas Hazel and I know these are special because the original flowers were for such a special occasion.
Those are both lovely Max, though so sad about the top one.
Had a lovely afternoon in Tarporley, though I didnāt realise it was carnival day, so a bit more crowded and noisier than normal. Very muggy too, for some reason made me long for colder weather when I can wrap up in all my lovely layers!
They are lovely Max and Iām sure they will be appreciated
Yes Margaret the Azalea was for a special event and the picture is close to my heart but it seems a shame for it to be stored away, so I thought is list it and see if it finds a new home
I have found recently that some pictures I thought wouldnāt sell ā¦ Have so Iām listing more of my pieces now I have the plus account
Sounds like you have had a nice day, Iām not keen in crowds myself but I guess it made for a nice change to see the carnival - I havenāt been to a carnival in 30 years lol itās been cool here today, needed a cardi earlier but the sun is just coming out
Very pretty tile max. Your memory book is such a lovely idea, Iām sure it will be appreciated. Wishing you lots of sales for your vintage fair
Pretty flowers Hazel, they look good against the painted wall.
Sounds like you had a good day Margaret, did you see the carnival as well as the crowds?
It was really hot and humid in Sheffieldā¦But Iām not ready to give up the sunshine just yet lol. We had a very useful trip, weāre slowly narrowing down the favourite courses and unis.
I only got one aceo done on the train though, it was packed! And the views were disappointing on this journey too, we were mostly hemmed in by banking and trees. I painted some beautiful pink pointy flowers that were growing along the sides of the track, Iāll take some photos tomorrow.
I was in the pub when the parade went past very noisily, and I intended to take a short cut across a field like I always do and the fair was on there and a man wanted to charge me Ā£2.50 to go into it. I politely declined and told him Iād walk round! Not keen on fairgrounds full of noisy excitable children and teenagers! I got a bit lost and found myself on a golf course, but managed to escape and carry on with my walk
Thatās cheeky to charge you to walk through the fair! I love the excitement and fun of the fair, it reminds me of my misspent youth
Max thatās a lovely idea.
Stephie I studied genetics.
I was up at the Mall Galleries this pm. The most expensive painting in the exhibition was Ā£8000 and it sold!
I am going to a concert at Finchcocks tomorrow. Itās being broadcast live on Radio 3 and thereās food.
Impressive degree Tessa, did you put it to use before your art took over?
I studied maths and was the mortgage risk manager for the coop bank (long before their crisis I hasten to add). I took redundancy in 2008 to give my full attention to the kids during their teenage years.
