What's for tea/dinner/supper tonight?

On my own tonight so can’t be bothered to be too inventive so it is going to be cauliflower cheese and chips!

Oh phew Roz your cauliflower and chips makes me a little happier about admitting to baked spud and beans with a slice of toasted stolen and a large coffee

Thanks Roz and Rachel, I’m a bit less embarrassed about admitting having scrambled eggs on toast now.

I’m not so good :expressionless: I have gallstones so can’t eat much fat. What I really crave is cheese on toast or chips and cheese or maybe just a big block of cheese!! MMMMM cheese lol

oooh that does sound delish Joy, sorry I missed this before - will have a good look at the recipe later, looking for something different to try xx

Great dish if you have visitors too - not found anyone who doesn’t like it.

Awww Donna, I sympathise. I can’t digest dairy foods, so cheese has been off the menu for the last three years. I do miss it very much!

I find restaurants a bit of a pain too, as waiting staff can be rather thick - of course “cream isn’t dairy” (!?!), “nor is cheesecake or ice cream” apparently! Menus do tend to have a lot of items containing cheese in some form, or some kind of white sauce and dessert menus are always crowded with ice creams, cheesecakes, cream etc, which makes picking a dessert tricky.

Still, there are other tasty alternatives and the pizza delivery people do make pizzas without cheese… almost as nice.

My sister is worse off, as she has a gluten intolerance and is really ill if she eats anything containing gluten. She has so many problems keeping her diet safe - especially as many foods have “hidden gluten” in. Also restaurants are rather clueless about what does or does not contain gluten (yorkshire pudding? gravy?).

I have to admit I’m a bit naughty when I go to a restaurant, I eat all the fat, even though I know I’ll be in pain later on. I just can’t seem to help myself lol
Although I do stay away from cheese especially on pizza as it just makes me sick. I also don’t eat red meat and if there isn’t a good fish dish on the menu I tend to go for the veggie option and most places think that mushrooms in cheese or something similar is a good option. :unamused:
I know what you mean about ice cream, that falls into the cheese category in my diet.
Although when we take my step daughter out, she has a severe nut allergy, people fall over themselves to make sure she doesn’t even see a nut let alone eat one. Which is great  I think a lot of people feel that lactose, fat and gluten intolerance aren’t ‘real allergies’ because they won’t actually kill you and we should just man up and eat the tasty food lol

I found a few veggies courgette, onion, leek, sweetcorn, peas, baby pea pods, red pepper, mushrooms, some mixed herbs and a wee splash of white wine. All cooked together then eaten with some rice.

It was yummie.

We are having chicken and pasta too. With leeks and mushrooms, garlic, red pepper. I’ll swish some of my cheap French white wine in (which I bring back from our motorhome specially) and finish it with a stir of mascarpone. Might add a few chopped walnuts too. Oh I feel quite peckish.

I’m being naughty tonight, it’ll be pub grub, prosecco ( on tap in our local) and there’ll be a medium there tonight too. Our local pub is ancient and is haunted by several ghost ids, so it should be a good night
See you all on Monday

unless you get spirited away

My sister is coming up for the weekend tonight so I have been a good girl and have some beef stroganoff cooking in the slow cooker - not like me to be so organised or to cook anything from scratch but I got the slow cooker for Christmas and thought I should use it.

Well as tonight is my monthly Band Practice we’ll be having chips not sure what I’ll have with mine but for DH it will be fish.

I’m being organized to day as there’s sweet potatoe and Butternut squash cut up and roasting in the oven it will be turned into soup later to night for Saturday

Tonight is the start of the weekend so I am spoiling hubby with roast vegetable paste:
aubergine, courgette, onion, 'shrooms, garlic all roasted in olive oil, and then some cooked pasta mixed with and a sprinkling of cheese, popped back in the oven.
with a lovely glass of red wine,
perfect …
oooh, I’m hungry
Suzzie x

Everyone’s dinners sound yummy!
I’ve just put a whole chicken in the oven- and inside it’s belly is lemon grass, ginger, garlic, lime, lime leaves and chilli. When it comes out I will take the chicken out of the roasting dish and add coconut milk mixed with more chilli, fish sauce, a pinch of sugar and coriander. And all that will be had with some coriander and lime rice.
And the leftover chicken will be used in a curry tomorrow- and probably in a chicken sandwich for lunch tomorrow too- got the pease pudding at the ready.

Yummy!!
