What's the best way to sell personalised items?

I’m just updating my shop and would like to add some personalised greeting cards and prints.

I was just wondering what’s the best way in getting the details from the customer?

Hi, I ask the buyer to leave me a note on their folksy order to specify the name they would like.

Thanks @Fantoosh I found this useful too as I’m thinking of adding a range of personalised bowls.

You could also list a ‘bolt-on’ personalisation listing. You might have a standard item that could be personalised for a bit extra. The customer would then purchase both the item and the personalisation as separate listings. I’ve seen this done ‘Elsewhere’ but without the use of hyperlinks within listings here on folksy it might be too cumbersome to manage.
