Why don't my new items appear in the 'Just Listed' box?

I’ve noticed this before, and again today, when I list new items, they never appear in the ‘just listed’ box on the main front page, that little box bottom left.

They appear in the ‘recently listed’ further down, but never at the top. I watched another seller list 2 items just now, and they both appeared in that box, one after the other, and stayed there for about 10 mins each, but none of my three new items appeared there.

Is it because I copy from a previous listing? Do listings have to be completely new to get picked up? Is it a random selection and I’m just very unlucky? I wish I knew.

Perhaps someone from admin or @folksycontent could throw some light on this puzzle for me?

I think it’s because you are copying from a previous listing. I think I remember that being given as a reason, because it’s not a ‘new’ listing.

It is a new listing, I’m not re-listing a previous one, it’s just that I copy an existing one to save entering all the same info again, but it creates a new, edited listing. I can’t believe everyone else recreates their listings from scratch each time.

I think it’s all about timing Christine, I’ve also listed new items that haven’t made it on to the front page. When something new is listed it seems to stay there for about 10 minutes so if your new listing is listed just at the right time it may appear, if that makes sense.

Have asked in the past regarding this.
It is all in the timing, apparently things move around every 12 minutes or so.

So how come one particular seller had at least 3 items in succession on there? They can’t have hit that lucky moment every time, it’s not possible.

And this has happened every time I’ve listed new items for the past few months - you would think over time at least one would have made it.

And why does it sometimes say ‘listed over 0 years ago’ on that box!!! What does that mean???

The only time I see my items in that box is if I am listing something very late at night, when all sensible peeps have probably turned in for the night.

Very, very occasionally one of my listings will pop in that box, I think they stay in there for about 10 - 15 minutes and I usually time it wrong. Oh and I do create my listings from scratch every time…

I was listing some new items the other evening and I kept checking whether any of them were coming up in that box. When I decided to give up looking, the thing in the box had been “listed 24 minutes ago”! My items take ages to make so I don’t list new ones very often, so this was sooooo annoying!..

Yes, it’s very rare since they changed front page that any of new listings come up and I agree it is annoying. There is only one box for new listings and two for loved items, think it would be better other way round. At least then you are seeing genuine new items.

I think its just because with 164k items being for sale, and the level of relisting, I think you have to be very lucky to appear on the front page. I’ve also listed new items and used the copy function from existing items and then edited them, but don’t think any of those have ever appeared on the front page. I’m guessing those slots are just completely new listings.
