fix it ! becasue the app does not share to fb and there is no option this is crucial for me to stay here
It was found that social media share buttons were severely affecting page loading times so they were removed. Social media share buttons also format posts in such a way that tends to limit their reach. (Platforms like FB want you to pay for promotion so if there is a link in a post they (correctly) assume that you are using their platform to promote with out paying them and limit the reach of the post) You will achieve better reach with your posts if you upload the image to the post and put the url to the listing in the comment.
You can also set up your FB page so that there is a shop tab that is linked to your Folksy shop and automatically updates when you update your Folksy shop. This then generates an update on FB alerting your followers that a new item has been added.
Thatâs interesting Sacha, I didnât know the bit you said in your last paragraph about alerting your followers if you update your Folksy shop, that sounds really useful. But Iâve had a look and canât see how to set that up.
I used to have a button on my FB page right hand side which said âshop nowâ, it went straight to my Folksy shop, but now I see itâs not there, it says âadvertiseâ instead! Is that anything to do with it?
Its to do with FB wanting you to sell through their platforms and making it as difficult as they can to let you sell through your own. Money money.
My shop now button went a couple of years ago when they upgraded me
Did you ever go through the faff that was setting up the rss feed/ product catalogue and insta shopping tags? When I set mine up I got a âshopâ tab (to go with the âshop nowâ button) and each item in the shop tab has a âview on websiteâ button which takes you to the Folksy page, I suspect that there was something in the rss feed/ catalogue set up which caused all of these things and the shop update alerts.
Ah, thanks Sacha, no I probably didnât do all that, Iâm getting to the point where I canât be doing with any faff at all! That will be why I didnât know anything about it .
Hello Sasha - I didnât know the bit about Fb limiting a postâs reach if you put a link in the post but to put it in a comment. Thanks for that tip. As I have now finally worked out how to tag a product so it links to the Folksy shop, I probably donât need to do either
I didnât know that either
I didnt know either @SashaGarrett, I always put my Folksy shop link on my FB posts, something else I will try to remember not to do lol
