2015 diets (sorry)

Thanks Pauline, I think it’s important not to get too depressed and hung up about the last few pounds. Mum tells me it’s normal to gain half a stone after the menopause and I’m a year or so past that now so perhaps it’s just meant to be. I’ll concentrate on maintaining that weight now and accepting it

@Louisa15 Im 5ft 7" and would love to be anywhere near 10st 7!! Well done to you.
My scales are still odd, some days Im the weight I was when i started, other times Im 8lb down. Today is a fasting day. Wish me luck.

Margaret, you sound a nice healthy weight and I think you’re right bot to get too hung up on it. I have many stones, almost 6, to get where you are so well done for maintaining. Oh well, my large lady-loving, sweet-toothed chef of a boyfriend isn’t helping by saying he loves me just the way I am, skinny devil. That’s lovely on one hand and not very helpful on the other! But at least I am accepted for what I actually am and do not have the added pressure of trying to be something I’m not for somebody else (like my ex husband, for instance!) Rant over.

I had the idea on my fast days of buying an M&S pasta dish(which is very tasty) as I swore I read that it had around 375 calories it it , so divide that and add brekky will be around 500 calories for the day.
I was very dissapointed today when I looked at the same dish and it had over 600+ calories in it!! How could it have changed. I need to investigate further!
So I almost bought it, but told myself to do things properly, so I went and bought salad, beetroot and turkey. Ive worked out ive had around 400 calories today!! (give or take) I wonder what I can treat myself to to make up to 500. (eyes up opened packet of Smarties and wrings hands in an evil way)

Weigh in day again - I don’t seem to have lost anything this week , although I seem to fit back in my size 14 jeans so must have changed shape a bit.(I’m a hoarder so still have the size 12 and size 10 ones to aim for )
Going to have to try and be much stricter again this month.

Fasting day today , as yesterdays fast got scuppered by husband coming home with hot pasties, and daughter making apple pies in cookery class.

Im 2lb down from my start weight(depsite it saying 8lbs down last week) STUPID SCALES!! it has to be wrong as theres no way Ive eaten 6lbs worth of extra food!!!
Figure is looking different, trousers are a bit baggy and Im naturally doing up belt on a smaller notch.
Today is a non fast day. Hooray!!
@DeborahJonesJewellery Keep going Deborah, itl all be worth it in the end.

M&S are probably being sneaky (like many other food producers) and what you think is a single serving meal is actually meant for 2. Entire dish contains 2 servings (I have seen things like 1.7 servings per pack, I mean really) contains 600+ calories, per serving (ie half) and you’re down to the 375. Well done on the restraint now just avoid the smarties and stick to salad.

Well done, Deborah, @DeborahJonesJewellery, it sounds as though things are going in the right direction. I’ve gained 3/4lb this week, which is not surprising as I’ve not tried that hard this week. If I can’t make a concerted effort in the coming week, then I think I will just give up as there’s no point in flogging a dead horse.

Stick with it Liz , you know all the effort is good for your health even if the scales are being discouraging.

Grimm you could try measuring rather than weighing if your scales are so unreliable, belly, thighs arms that kind of thing. Any little loss is encouragment to stick with it.

Grimm to carry on from Deborah’s comment - muscle is denser than fat. So if you have increased your amount of exercise to burn off the fat/ calories you may well be replacing the fat with muscle, over all you get little weight change but you slim down the inches. If you really don’t trust the scales get a tape measure.

Thanks one and all. I weighed myself this morning and Im heavier than I was when I started(but I think you know how I feel about my stupid scales).
Ive not been exercising so I cant blame any extra muscle weight (il blame the scales). I have definately been sticking to the plan and havnt overeaten in any way on my non fast days.
Coincidentally I measured my bits and bobs last night. My waist has got smaller from 34" to about 32", Cant recall my leg and arm measuremenst so I should start again and write things down.

Its weigh in day.
But dont ask. 5:2 doesnt seem to be working, although Im definatley smaller because Im less bloated from not eating my usual foods, I can even do my belt up on a smller notch…
Im thinking of giving up the 5:2 ad trying a 4:3 where Im on 1000 claories for 3 days and normal eating the 4 days. 500 calories is very low and 1000 cals in comparison seems like a feast.

How are you all doing?

This is more like what I do, I have around 800cals 3 or 4 days a week , that way I can have a normal small evening meal with my family.
I forgot to weigh myself again this morning , but don’t think I have lost any more - but as you said feeling less bloated is a plus.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. Well, I’ve lost a bit, I’ve gained a bit, I’ve lost a bit (again - the same bit!) so today I am wiping the slate clean and resetting my personal weight loss tracker to zero and I’m starting afresh.

What am I doing, I hear you all cry? Well, I’ve been reading up on stuff and decided that I’m going to give the low carb approach a go. I’m not making any promises to myself, but from what I’ve read, this seems sustainable and if Tom Kerridge can lose 10 stone that way, well, I think it’s worth giving it a try.

I was terrified when I got up this morning, wondering how on earth I was going to cope without my HUGE bowl of cereal, but I had 3 boiled eggs (will try to get away with 2 tomorrow) and then at 10.30 I had a low carb chocolate coconut bar and I feel OK. Yes, I’m just about getting hungry for my lunch, but that’s a good thing. Lunch will be 2 bratwurst with 2 tsp of mustard and dinner will be peppered mackerel with salad. Snacks, if needed will be tuna mayo and celery sticks.

Wish me luck.

Not meaning to put you off but I was shocked by the amount of calories in a mackeral fillet, its either 300 or 400, either way, alot higher than I expected.
Good luck with it.
I love makerel.

Don’t worry, Grim, you’re not putting me off - the fat content of your food is not that important when you eat hardly any carbs, and you don’t calorie count in any way, in fact you have to make sure you eat some fat with every meal. Mind you, I will not be consuming the 45ml a day of cream you’re apparently supposed to. I’ve had my bratwurst and my tuna mayo and celery sticks and have to admit to being hungry, but I should be back from my shift early tonight, around 19.30, so I don’t have too long to wait before I can tuck into all that lovely mackerel.

Good morning, well done everyone for keeping going. I’ve not exactly fallen off the wagon but the day job has been a bit unpredictable for the past few weeks as we have recently been privatised and I’m part of the change management team so been all over the place. This week I was in Llanelli one day Bridgend for 2 and then back in Pontypridd! the problem is it’s difficult to take anything other than sandwiches as I never know if I’ll actually get time to sit and eat a nice salad (which takes ages to eat) or have to scoff a quick sarnie inbetween meetings, been living off porridge, cereal bars and sandwiches for the past few weeks, though I’ve not put anything on my weight has stayed exactly the same for over a month now which is not bad.

But the other issue is used to go for a walk lunchtimes, but hardly get any time to eat lunch at the moment let alone go for a walk, so I’m hoping that with the lighter nights coming I can go for an evening walk instead, all this sitting in meetings or tied to a computer is playing hell with my back!

keep up the good work everyone  :ok_hand:

Ive been asked to walk my pals dog while he is on holiday for 4 days, the dog looks like a lion, but not as big. Walks are about an hour, should burn some calories for me.

1st day of dog walking, 3 hours to go and its chucking it down with rain. This is one of the many reason why I dont have a dog.

…just got back from dog walk, I got drenched in the rain and the smell of his pooh will not leave my nostrils. The up side is that the memory of picking the pooh up in a bag and carrying around for most of the walk has put me off food.
