Arghh just deleted all my listings!

Oh no, just came out of holiday mode to reopen my shop and selected all my hiddens item to put them back in my shop and I must have hit delete by mistake. So I have lost all of my listings. That’s twice I have done that now. I won’t be opening up again now for a while as I can’t face relisting all of my items at the moment. xx

Noooooo!
Do try emailing Support straight away - @dougfolksy might just be able to retrieve them from yesterday’s Backups for you.

Thanks everyone, last time he couldn’t do anything but I will try xx

Hi @dougfolksy I had my items as hidden in my shop and went to put them all back and I seem to have lost them all. I’m sure that I didn’t click delete (done that before so always really careful) My computer is being a bit slow, so maybe they hadn’t finished loading? Is there any way you can get these listings back
Thanks Claire xx

Claire, I too have done this, its so irritating. Just remember next time to sign out and sign back in again between every action. It’s the only thing that seems to work, even if it takes time to do xxx

You do have to confirm after pressing delete and it says quite clearly that it is permanent and cannot be undone so you might well be out of luck. If you want to make sure you catch Doug before the next backup (which is probably at about 2am) perhaps overwrites last night’s then you need to send to the urgent support email. Just tagging on here is not likely to catch him.

@kernowclaire The other thing to check is whether they have gone into your Expired list - might the listings have expired while they were Hidden? Just a thought

I did exactly this. I also did it twice! I have no idea what happened the first time. The second time I was very careful and only did a few at a time, am pretty sure that I wasn’t hitting the confirm delete button at any point, but still lost several. Now having read this thread I think perhaps there is something in what you say about ‘maybe they hadn’t finished loading’.

It’s a pain having to start over, but I used it as an opportunity to check and improve my listings. Good luck Claire @kernowclaire!

Hi, no sadly, I checked. They have gone  xx

Thanks for the info. Last time it was permanent, so I don’t hold out much hope. Never mind, just one of those things xx

Oh okay thanks, I’ll try that next time. Thanks for the help. xx

Silly question but I have only ever used the hidden facility a couple of times and that was for an individual listing never all my stock. If your shop was in holiday mode why did you also need to hide all your stock.

Even when I’m at a 2 day big and busy event I still wouldn’t think of hiding my stock and rarely have had to put my shop in holiday mode for such an occasion either. Did it once when I was so busy I didn’t have time to dive into my shop via my phone to zeroise stock of items I was selling but it is very rare to sell something at an event and in my shop at the same time.
I certainly wouldn’t dream of hiding my stock from view when on holiday or at an event as that means that anyone coming across one of my links on social media or via google would not be able to see it… and maybe pop back later when I’m back from holiday… to buy it or maybe message me about it.

Just curious as to how others manage and why they use the hide feature.

Hi, to be honest it annoys me when I am looking at a shop and see something that I want to buy and then it says on holiday. All the items are there to see and just a small message at the top which is easily missed. So as the other side hides everything I prefer to do the same - although I won’t next time, have learnt my lesson.
Also if I have items that aren’t selling so well, I hide them and then if I have a sale the listing is all ready to go and I put them back in my shop. That way I don’t need to redo the whole listing. xx

Ah but usually, twice a year, I put my shop on holiday while I motorhome and add a little note to say that I will respond to messages. Invariably I have at least one request per holiday to reserve something pending my return… so no hiding of stock by me.
Certainly would never annoy me to find someone on holiday every now and then. After all the rest of the year I am open 24 x 7.

PS Claire I presume you are planning on restocking your Folksy shop as don’t think Folksy rules allow you to direct people away to your own site.

Hi @JOYSofGLASS I am plsnning to restock but thanks for reminding me change that. No I don’t mind people having a holiday at all :grinning: just I wanted to buy something and they never came back but I think I will try what you do from now on. Thanks for all the helpful info, I really appreciate it xx

Ah I can understand the holiday and never coming back… my E*** shop has been like that for about 3 years and will undoubtedly stay that way. People still like it which surprises me

I didn’t realize that you could still be messaged when on holiday either. I’ve been on here for years now and still learning x
