I can get my image into the template but it won’t download.

I have a ‘Share’ button in the top right hand corner, when I click on that it gives me some options and I choose download. It seems to take a little while, sometimes I have thought nothing was happening. I’m going to check out Folksy’s blog to see if I’m on the right track with Canva, I’ve never used it before now.

I made my own in the end. It’s a png transparent. Does it look rubbish? I can’t make my mind up.

Or is the logo meant to be orange?

@VioletFlameGlassArt There are some parts where you can use Google Drive, but that shouldn’t be the only option.
You can either click “share” on the top right to get to the download window, or go to the file menu on the top left and click “download”.

Once you’ve made your selections, when you click the purple download button a new section should show below that shows the download with a progress bar. After a few seconds your file manager should pop up which allows you to select where on your computer to save it to (at least it does for me on Windows, but it sounds like for Camilla/Mac it just automatically selected the destination). When I only had 1 page selected it took 4 seconds for the window to pop up, but when it had all pages selected (which is the default) it took 10 seconds, so that could definitely be very slow for some.

If it doesn’t seem to be working it may be to do with differences on your specific device or maybe some browser settings, it’s hard to be certain when things can behave a little different depending on what you’re using, but knowing the exact part that something doesn’t work as expected can sometimes help narrow it down (and knowing the browser and device type you’re using to check on similar, as mobile/tablet views can sometimes be completely different to desktop/laptop).

As for your own versions… I think I prefer the blue to match with your item (there are a few different colour options on the Canva ones, but it’s fine to change colours - the red/orange was just to have an option to match with the poster). I think it’s just a little tricky to read on the “buy better” line where your background image has darker parts, so where you’ve got the lightened line at the top of the image, it might work better to have that all over just to give a bit more contrast between the text and the image.

I’m on a laptop using Google Chrome.

I think it looks terrific and I like the blue, not so keen on the orange.

I use a desk top Mac and Safari, that’s all I use so I don’t know the first thing about any other formats.

I’m on a (Windows) desktop on Chrome too, so I would expect it to have a similar layout for us both.

Do you get as far as getting this bit when you click the download button?

This is what I’m getting. When I download nothing happens. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong but have no idea what.

I think I’ll stick with my own designs. It’s doing my head in!!!

If you want to give it one more try, try clicking where it says “all pages”, untick the box where it says “all pages (1-19)” and then just select the specific number for the image/s you were editing (it definitely slows it down having them all selected) and click “done”. Then click the download button just under where it says “save download settings” and hope. I’d give it at least 10-20 seconds to see if anything happens.

But your own designs look good too!

I’m not trying to be controversial here but… I have a shop, I make things which I want to sell. I don’t want to sell less, I want to sell more.
I understand the philosophy of the campaign… make your purchases meaningful, make then count and don’t waste your money on things you don’t need. … but having ‘Buy less’ as the first message says to me. Don’t shop here…shop somewhere else / better

I can’t believe I’m the only one who thinks this ?

You are not alone Joy, I thought initially what a good idea but Lee pointed that out to me at the getgo. He felt it was negative to my brand and has told me to delete from my social media.

He looks at things with a different way than I do. I am fluffy, his words, he is more level headed.

The campaign is good in theory it is just the leading words but less that is not helpful.

I think the message is OK because the implication is to ‘consider what you are purchasing’ and make ‘informed choices’ that being the case a customer might buy less but it is more likely to be from small independent shops and handmade quality craftwork. The thinking behind the campaign is positive as it identifies your shop as moving towards ‘eco aware’ and ‘ethical buyers’ which is no bad thing in this day and age. It does seem a bit odd to say ‘buy less’ but it may well have a good result for Folksy sellers as many ‘Folksy’ customers are already concerned about these issues.

I agree with the message but still think ‘Buy Less’ is all wrong. Maybe ‘Buy Better’. Buy less could represent that handmade is cheaper than bought in tat made in China etc.

DH was explaining the meaning behind those words and the impact on people’s thinking. Behaviours etc. Don’t ask me but I do listen to him as he is qualified in this type of field.

It is the placement of the words I find odd. Buy Better Buy Handmade Buy less is not telling my customer not to buy from me but go to the shop next door but no way would I dream of putting a sign anywhere near my shop/s to say Buy Less.
I noticed that on the IG post one comment from someone saying buy from Charity shops, buy second hand had been highlighted as a good slogan ???. That is absolutely Not a message which should be coming from shops which only sell New Handmade. Not if the shops actually want to make sales anyway.

I have to agree. The wording would be improved by putting ‘Buy Less’ at the end (implying ‘consume less’). The campaign itself is great, but just think the wording has a psychologically negative implication as it is.

I’m glad it’s not just me that thought the ‘buy less’ statement was odd!

I wasn’t confident enough to say anything! :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:
