Hi Camilla,

Just wondering if this event will run similar to last years market as I might not be able to be active online at the times shown. If we’ll be able to prepare content in advance like last year that would be great.

Thank you,
Tina

Hi @folksycontent and everyone! :grinning:

I’ve been hanging around a while hoping someone else would ask this so I don’t feel silly! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ve read info on how to apply and how to pay etc, but…can someone explain (or point me to a link :+1:) how these online markets actually work?

Do we get our listings put on a site and people browse that? Is it maker interviews on video call? I can’t puzzle it out lol!

Thanks!

Katrina :hugs:

Hi Katrina, not a silly question at all as I’ve just realised I’m not entirely sure myself
I think it’s as follows - the market is hosted on the Tresstle website. When you register with Tresstle you get a profile page to fill in with some blurb about you, some product photos & a link to your Folksy shop. You apply via your profile for any market you want to do & there will be a web link for that specific market. Customers visit that Tresstle market page & then can link directly over to your Folksy shop to make any purchases.

I know Amanda @bowerbirddesigns has done a few Tresstle events & is taking part in one this weekend - hopefully she could confirm if I’ve told you nonsense or not?! (TIA Amanda!) I don’t think the market page is live yet so the links through don’t work, but if you want a nosy this is the one this weekend: https://tresstle.com/events/christmas-handmade-market/

Hi Dee  Many thanks for the info :+1:

Ah, OK so it doesn’t involve going live? Phew! :disappointed_relieved: I saw some stuff taking place on Instagram last year and the makers were talking in front of a display of their wares so thought it might be the same idea.

I’m working my way up to being on camera but not ready yet!

Thanks again for your help :hugs:

Ahh bless you - I’m in completely the same boat!! Can just about manage a selfie & a zoom call with a few people, but live would be a step too far for me right now

I believe there will be the option of having a live spot, but there won’t be any pressure to do that bit & I imagine there will be limited places for those anyway - so don’t panic!

You’re welcome, I’m just hoping I’ve given the right info now - hopefully someone will be along who has a bit more experience with these things to confirm (or supply the right info if not!!) x

Awww, thanks  :hugs: You’ve been a great help :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thanks Dee @OrukiDesign very helpful, but can I ask another question (possibly silly too sorry!) do you need to be on FB with the Folksy Christmas market?

Also how do you reply to the actual person on these forums? :face_with_monocle:

Hi Judy! Ooh I do hope I’m being helpful & not just telling people a load of nonsense!!

The markets are much more of an IG thing - I did share everything across to FB last time around but most of the activity was on IG. I think it’d be fine to take part without having FB, as long as you’re active on IG.

Yeah the forums take a bit of getting used to!! To reply to a specific post use the grey reply at the bottom of that post, or tag the person as you did. To reply to the thread in general it’s the blue reply at the bottom xx

No not nonsense Dee, you always give good advice! And on that…
Thank you so much as I don’t have FB I did wonder!
Also :crossed_fingers: this reply will actually go to you!
Mmm… let’s see!

Ok no! :-1: Will try again!

Ha! @OrukiDesign didn’t work!
I can’t see a grey reply thingie just blue! Using an iPhone if that makes a difference! Oh well… :upside_down_face:

Thanks for @OrukiDesign sounds like it will be the same as last year, just worried I had to be around for the whole of the event as I’m sure to be busy about then. Will apply later.

Hi! Yes Dee @OrukiDesign is right! You register for Tresstle (maybe there’s a one-off fee of £10?, I was already a Pedddle premium member, so I’m unsure about that bit!) then you add your details to your details bit.

Then you need to apply for the market you want to do, I.e. folksy Christmas market!!!

Cheers, Amanda

Oh well, tagging the person works just as well. Could well be an iPhone thing, I only ever come on here via the laptop :woman_shrugging:
