Hi friends, I think I have a problem, about an hour ago, I received a message via email that I made my first sale, and here so much happiness, going to my dashboard my item was actually sold, but I don’t find any payment on my card. I start by saying that skype hasn’t activated my account, so I work with paypal, but there too nothing. Advice on how to proceed? thanks
It sounds like the payment hasn’t gone through for some reason. When you look at the order on your dashboard does it say payment pending? Double check that your paypal details are correct on your folksy dashboard. If they are then there should be an email address for your customer in the order details so i would drop them an email and ask if they had an issue during payment and if they would like you to email them a paypal invoice. (You can then log into your paypal account and generate an invoice which gets emailed to them with a secure link so they can pay by card).
You can also email folksy support with the order number (number at the end of the url when you are on the order page)/ date/ time of the order and they can look in the transaction logs to see if the payment timed out or similar.
Hi,
Yes, the customer’s email appears, and the payment is marked as completed. However, I don’t see any credit on my cards. I would like to switch back to using PayPal instead of Stripe, but I’m not sure how to do that.
I have also contacted support and hope to receive a response and solution soon, as I have only 3 days left to deliver the order.
Thank you for your understanding.
Hi … it takes around 7 days before you receive the payout with Stripe it doesn’t appear straight away. Mine goes into my bank account about a week after the sale. I can’t remember whether I usually get an email from them at point of sale or not but if you log into your Stripe account you should see the payment on your account,
I find it takes about 7 days for both stripe and PayPal money to appear in our bank - although after several years we are apparently now considered to be “safe” trades and will have our money paid in within 3 days from stripe.
On the order it should say what method was used to pay for the order - you have both stripe and paypal as options. Paypal doesn’t automatically transfer money to your bank account or cards (at least it doesn’t for me). Stripe automaticaly transfers to your bank account but there would be a delay (7 business days at the beginning but i’m now down to 3 business days). Have you logged into your paypal /stripe accounts to see if the money is there waiting?
I’m sure support will respond today and they can also help you disconnect stripe from your folksy account.
We are currently finding more people paying by stripe.than PayPal and to be fair I’ve always found them more helpful than PayPal.
Great news re your sale @marcogiglio
Hi everyone,
I’ve found the solution, but only today did they update it—yesterday it seemed like the system was on a coffee break! Anyway, I’m not too thrilled with the management: I don’t get why I have to wait 7 days for my money to reach my account, while with PayPal on another sale, it was instant. Maybe my money is taking a scenic tour, but I hope it arrives soon!
Thanks a lot for all the help. I have another question: since I’m a newbie, I’ve been told I should let other artisans know about my sale on the forum. Which section should I post this in?
Thanks again, and sorry if my questions seem basic, but me and tech are definitely from different planets!
HI Marco
The delay in getting the funds to you isn’t anything to do with Folksy management, they don’t have control over that it’s down to Stripe. Also Paypal is quicker than Stripe.
Hi Marco, well done on the sale. I think that once you have had a few sales paid for through Stripe, they pay out a bit quicker, because mine seem to be sent in about 3 days now. I don’t know what the criteria is though. On the plus side, the total fees are a bit less than they are when the customer uses PayPal.
There’s a thread here where you can share your good news.xxx What was the last item you sold on Folksy? - #3955 by reladesigns
Hi,
I understand that Folkys is not directly involved with issues related to Stripe. However, I believe it would be beneficial if we had the option to choose how we want to receive payments. Specifically, it would be helpful to be able to set up multiple payment methods in my payment section, such as credit cards, PayPal, and Stripe, rather than being restricted to just one method.
If I’m mistaken and there is a way to include multiple payment options, I would appreciate it if you could let me know how to do so.
Thank you!
Thank you for your support with my first sale.
Regarding payments, as I mentioned to another artisan, I would have preferred to offer multiple payment methods so that the customer could choose the one that works best for them. Don’t you think?
You have to have Paypal to operate your shop.
Stripe is optional, it’s up to you whether you set up your shop to use Stripe, where the customer pays by credit card.
So you are not restricted to one method.
You can offer both and then you have it all covered.
Hi Marco you can have Stripe and PayPal in your shop, have a look under Settings in your account section
We’re now down to 3 days with stripe - like you Amanda - not sure what the criteria is but we obviously passed muster as we got a lovely email from them telling us about the change
We have both Marco and we have found more people paying by stripe lately.
Hi
Thanks for your response. As shown in the attached photos, another seller offers multiple payment options. However, in the second photo, my site only shows one payment method.
Could you please guide me on where and how to modify my site to add more payment options? What steps do I need to follow to update the available options for my customers?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, it looks like there is no Stripe/credit card payments enabled in the second picture. But the second picture is not your shop checkout. It is for another shop.
