I’d love an instagram account - but I don’t have a mobile phone or any of the modern thingummies you need to have to have one :frowning:

No nor me Sara, but I have an Ipad on order ,so hope that will suffice.

Paul

Hi Paul, I love Instagram, I use it for my knitting but also for other things too, I just take photos of whatever takes my fancy. I’ll follow you too. I’m nataliefranca on there.

You’ll be sorted when you can use it on your ipad.

Hi Paul - I followed you back and was your first follower  Followed you from BC too! I messaged you on Instagram too - you should get a little notification to tell you this, although I think maybe that is only on your phone rather than your laptop x

ipads come under my classification of ‘modern thingummies’ LOL! I have my laptop, and an ancient mobile that does phone calls and texts (I topped it up with £10 credit a few years ago - I still have credit on there, shows how much I use it lol!)

You’re right, messages don’t work on the web version of the site. I had an old phone which only ran an old version of instagram, I’d been looking on the website too but when I got a new phone I realised there was old unread messages from half a year earlier!

It’s surprising how many people seem to use folksy who don’t have smart phones. I’m not sure what I’d do without mine. My iPhone is my everything in one: camera, emails, calendar, to-do lists, I shop, do my banking, I manage all my social networks on it, my blog etc etc. & it’s great & convenient for video calling all my friends in other countries for free. I rarely use my laptop. Haha so to be honest I just assume everyone is the same. Hahah

I’m newly joined too (yesterday) and what with Instagram and trying to master my new 'phone, like Paul, I was feeling a little over-whelmed! This is very helpful thank you Susannah!

It’s probably a generation thing - being in my 40s I grew up without even having a landline phone in the house until I was a teenager, computers were a novelty, and the school computer room when I was a secondary school consisted of six large computers that you had to book time to be allowed to try and work out how to use them, there was no internet, Facebook didn’t exist, or Twitter, videoing was done with a large handheld video camera, photos were taken using real film that you had to wait and get developed, shopping lists were (and still are for me!) written on the backs of old envelopes, same with to do lists, online shopping didn’t exist.

I think what people can do with their phones and ipads nowadays is great - but I’m glad I grew up without all the technology, as it was a different way of life, and it’s not that long ago, but things have changed so much in the past 30 years.
