That’s beautiful Brenda, a lovely scene. I’ve not done any art this weekend I’ve been too busy being out! Had a lovely afternoon by the river, I took my puzzle book and sat doing sudoku in between walking in the sunshine. Tired now but happy!

I love Sudoku…

Evening all, hope you have all had a lovely day. spin has eased a little, hopefully it will pass soon

I just found an art society not five minutes from where I live, going to ring tomorrow as they meet on Thursdays, I also found several art courses being run just up the road! How odd is that! been keeping my eye out for anything local and just never found them before, they are running an oil and acrylic class in November, only £32 for 8 week course sounds like a bargain to me

that sounds brilliant Max

Sounds good Max, enjoy!

Good morning

Beautiful autumnal scene Pam, it’s so fresh and cheerful.

It was a gorgeous day yesterday for a walk Margaret, especially by the water. I can’t do sudoku though. We took our student Emily to Blackpool and while Kathe and Emily were at the pleasure beach we went off for a good walk.

Max that sounds fab! The course is an absolute bargain, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

It’s quiet in the guy household today - Kathe’s back at college, Andy is still in Europe (interrailing with friends), hubs is at work, and Emily is fast asleep catching up on her jetlag. So I’m experimenting with Aquafix, which is supposed to make watercolours waterproof…

I know I’m logged in under my other shop name, but here’s something from TwinkleandGloom. It’s just a little drawing I made the other week. My grandad is in hospital at the moment and I’ve been finding it very difficult to get the motivation up to make.

Hello Twinkle, welcome to the art thread. I love your shop name, fab concept, feels like you might have found a niche there!

Well the aquafix certainly does make watercolours waterproof - I left the palette too long and had to scratch the dried out paint off. Good job I followed the instructions and used a palette as I don’t usually - I would have ended up with waterproof watercolour pans :S

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I’ve been @twinkleandgloomart for a few years now- I think I have something different, it’s just getting it to the right people. This other little thing of mine- @ThemdustyoldViewfinders is just a little side project, more of a penny raiser. I love my little Twinkle and Gloom world though, I’m keeping on keeping on!

Those birds are lovely @paperchainsandbeads. I love silhouettes, two of my heroes are silhouette artists, Jan Svankmajer and Lotte Reiniger.

Afternoon, all! Welcome to the thread, Lowri!
Interesting to hear about your experimenting with the Aquafix, Stephie! It’s not something I have thought about using, as I’d hate to risk my brushes. Were you pleased with the finished effect on the paintings themselves?
Fab silhouettes, Max - they look as though they are just getting ready to fly to warmer climes.
Waving, Margaret!

welcome Lowri…looking forward to seeing more of your arwork.
waving everyone…I’ll be back shortly with my listing for today…

back with today’s painting. acrylic on canvas board 7" x 5"

You’ve just reminded me that we’re having a ā€˜purple’ day at work in a couple of weeks. We’re being encouraged to do all things purple to raise money for Alzheimers Research. I know what I’ll do, I’ll deck myself out in purple, head to toe!

I wasn’t hugely impressed Pam but I think that’s down to my colour choices, not the aquafix. I bought it so that my mini dolls house watercolour paintings won;t have to go behind glass, they’ll have some protection from dust. It leaves them a little shiny, well more of a sheen really. And I used a cheap brush lol, it was absolutely fine.

Lovely butterfly Brenda, are you enjoying the acrylics now?

Purple day sounds good Margaret, is it a national day or something that’s been organised specially for your work?

I’ve also been playing with some heavy structure gel today

The photograph of the rose on your phone is beautiful, Stephie!
Pretty butterfly, Brenda!
I was inspired to return to my Devon roots and paint an ACEO of a granite stack on Dartmoor today!

I like the ā€˜face’ on it! The stack is called Bowerman’s Nose.

I can see the face too Pam, it’s fab.

Stephie, I enjoyed working with the sculpture medium, I used it on the daisy painting Margaret now has  gives great structure and texture.

Lovely flutterby Brenda,

I just phoned the people about the local art society and was delighted to be invited to join them on Thursday, am excited and nervous. I have also been offered to exhibit In their upcoming exhibition in October. Not sure if I’m quite ready for that yet! but I may just Paint a few smaller ones eek!

Stephie, it’s a work initiative as far as I know, they organise all kinds of different things here!
