Stand with Ukraine - a new tag for items sold to support charity donations

At long last I have sold my first item under the section ā€˜stand with Ukraine’. At least I have raised Ā£4.00 from the sale. I would love to sell more items!

Well done! :blue_heart: :yellow_heart:

Thank you, so relieved, I was beginning to be embarrassed for not selling anything with so many of my items available.

@DemelzaDesigns Congratulations!
Just a little tip, I don’t know about when everyone else is shopping, but when I’m specifically looking to buy an item that supports Ukraine, I normally want it to visibly show support for Ukraine too. That means my eye will be drawn most to items that are blue and/or yellow or show symbols of Ukraine (such as flower crowns, sunflowers, poppies, kalyna, decorated eggs, embroidery, coral, the tryzub).

Obviously if I’m just generally shopping and see an item I like that also donates to Ukraine then that’s great, but when I’m specifically going through that section, that’s normally what I’m looking for.

I don’t know how you select which items you pick to donate from, but I can see you have some items in your shop which show a stronger link which aren’t in the section. I don’t know if it might help to be more targeted with which items you pick?

Hi

Thanks, which items in my shop do you think have a stronger link.

Others sellers are also offering items which are not blue and yellow, and I have purchased from a seller not actually selling items with any link to Ukraine such as a baby bib and sewing needle book, but by purchasing them from her she is making a donation to Ukraine. I thought it was for sellers offering to donate some of their stock items to help raise money and not actually specifically making items in blue and yellow. I did think about making blue and yellow booties but I didn’t think they would sell and that would be a waist of my time and materials costs.

Regards
Gail

@DemelzaDesigns It is to list whichever items you want to donate from, of course they don’t have to have a link, I’m just making a suggestion on the type of items I’m most likely to purchase from that section, but obviously everyone won’t shop in the same way as me.

As I said, if I’m just generally shopping for something and see something I want to buy that also donates then it’s even better, but when I’ve specifically gone through that section it’s normally looking for items I can wear that will show my support when I’m at a protest, Ukrainian event or just out shopping, so at those times I’m looking for more specific items.

There aren’t any rules about what types of items you need to list there (other than donating), I just thought it might help get more sales if other people are shopping in the same way, and you already have items that do that without having to make something specific.

Your items that immediately stand out to me are things like these:

(coral jewellery is commonly worn with traditional Ukrainian clothes, although I’m not sure if many other people would see that link ).

Hi Fiona

I took your advice and listed a few more jewellery items which do link to Ukraine.

They are one seed bead 2 strand daisy bracelet and a pair of gorgeous hand blown Royal blue glass bead earrings which have sun flowers on them. Unfortunately, my new Samsung tab does not have a flash on the camera so they don’t look as good in colour as they do in real life. Hence I am now saving up for a new Apple I.pad!

Thanks for your positive input. I didn’t take offence at all.

Kind regards
Gail

As it’s Ukrainian independence day this week, my entire shop has 50% donated to AUGB’s Help Ukraine fund for any sales 22nd - 28th (I can’t be bothered updating the tags on everything for just one week though).

I’ve had a sunflower design I did turned into a limited edition art print with all profits going to DEC appeal via work for good

I’m really happy to have sold 4 of these little bags (just one left now) which has given me another Ā£10 to donate.

Last night I sold another little bag and a purse. Just little bits here and there, but so far I have raised £38 from my Folksy sales.

@folksycontent Surely it is now time to remove the Stand with Ukraine feature from the front page.
I am 100% behind the Ukraine and I am sure those who have things legitimately tagged so they appear in this section are… But there are things in there which give a donation for sales in March only, other which promise to donate almost more that the now discounted price, others, quite a lot, which make no claim to donation at all but just have the tag.
Please review the feature.

I had some nice little sales today and some of them were for my fund raiser, giving me another £10 to donate.

@folksycontent I was very pleased to sell 4 items on Seconds Sunday allowing me to add to my donations to the Ukraine appeal. However I agree with Joy @JOYSofGLASS that the Stand with Ukraine feature needs reviewing. With the awful earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and many Folksy sellers donating to other worthy causes perhaps now is the time to make it a feature for all charities?

Great idea

Perhaps we could have a ā€˜Solidarity’ section where we can raise money for good causes? :hugs: :hugs:

We could but Folksy is a Sales platform and that is what we should be promoting.

I just meant as a suggestion for the section name if the current Ukraine section was expanded as mentioned by @Thecraftycurioshop ā€œperhaps now is the time to make it a feature for all charities?ā€ :hugs:
