Good Morning! Here’s the Northern Heritage sketch I did yesterday from the train
Talking to myself and feeling old
I’ve been mounting some postcard sized work today, they’re all at the top of my shop if you want to take a peek www.stephanieguy.folksy.com
I am here now Stephie…as you know BT was down this morning and so I couldn’t get onto half the sites…the only place I managed was facebook. Then we went shopping and back now and all looks like it is working again…The internet is brilliant when it works…when…lol
Now need to catch up on everything.
Lovely painting
Love that ACEO Stephie, it’s fab!
Beautiful scene Brenda.
I’ve been out in Chester most of the day. Thoroughly enjoyed myself even though it was wet. Tired now and just getting tea ready. Back later.
afternoon all, good fair today and I sold my Raven on vintage book paper, I’ll have to do some more of those had a query on FB yesterday for some I did earlier too, they seem popular.
Great sketch Stephie and wow what a dramatic sky Brenda. Glad you had fun Margaret.
Oooh that one’s dramatic Brenda!
I’m just back from more driving practice with my son. I’ll be broke by the time he takes his test lol, every time we go out we end up in a coffee shop and the range
Glad you had a good fair Max
Did you buy anything exciting at the Range Stephie?
Only another pile of double mounts for my postcard sized paintings - it’s the church fete tomorrow and the art group is having an exhibition, including unframed work. Haha I’ve got LOADS !! Hopefully I’ll sell some. I’ll be putting my shop on holiday for the day.
They really do look good mounted, just been having a look at your shop, you’ve got some stunning work in there!
Just a quick pop in …
Waving all
Hope it goes well tomorrow Stephie - sounds like a good day for you too Margaret
We have had a lovely day - celebration lunch with family and now chilling out
Thanks Margaret. I think I’ll be moving some of it over to artfinder next week, with a much higher price tag. I’ll have to put my prices up as their commission is way higher than here, but I’m beginning to wonder whether I’m priced too low anyway.
Thanks Hazel, fingers crossed! If I don’t sell anything all I will have lost is my time - there’s no table fee, just 10% commission on any sales.
Morning waving hi to everyone. Good luck today Stephie
Morning All
I’m still pondering what to do with my paintings that came to an end over the past two weeks, I must have over 20 now not listed anywhere … I have listed a couple on the bay but it has never done well for me there but I’m giving it another try but only a couple of items
May was an amazing month for Art In Wax but June hasn’t been !!! But then I haven’t been promoting what with being on holiday and working with the US company with the video demonstrations etc. so I’m looking forward to July now
How has June been for you all?
Let us know how you get on with art Finder Stephie - if you can sell at a higher price to cover the commission that’s great - I find pricing really difficult - some of my pieces I just can’t sell too cheap as the amount of work and materials (the new pieces on wood and panels for example use a much more expensive wax than that of the paintings on specialist gloss card) and yet I think it is important not to price yourself out if the market another of those fine lines when it comes to selling online I guess
Have a good day all
Hazel
Hazel, I found the secret on the bay is to bite the bullet and list at a really low price…OK…so sometimes that is all you get but then people love an auction and the competitor syndrome kicks in and prices go up. What started it rolling for me, was a man who vowed to list all his (15 x 11") paintings at a starting price of 99p…at first that shocked me, until I checked his sales and he was taking a small fortune. Then I found another professional artist who started his LARGE paintings for £4.99 and also sold loads…
I reduced my prices on there and it all took off… I would do the same on Folksy but I tried for a short time and STILL no sales so put my prices back up to £4. For the amount of work I put in I think £4 is fair.
On the other side I see people asking £20 for items that are quite simple (being kind)…and I often wonder how people come to value their work so highly. I know it is a personal thing and appreciate the cost of materials etc…but I have found that working for a few pence a time mounts up and is better than NO SALES…after all, that is how Mr Woolworth and Billy Butlin both became millionaires…
I suppose it is swings and roundabouts and choice but there is no point in asking high prices and seeing work sat in drawers for years and years…
I have also put larger paintings on some of these up market sites…Not a SNIFF…and they have been on there for 4 years !!!..Competition is too high when you go to that sort of site…but I wish you and Stephie good luck on artfinder…I hope you will prove me wrong…
I shall just keep plodding on in my own little way and banking the 50p here and the 20p there…which pays for another bill…
I do think it ebbs and flows Brenda, I’m giving the bay a try and see what happens but I’m not on artfinder, I think I have enough going on for now…
I’m carrying on with folksy as it’s been great here some months, etsy is slow but I do get international sales there do will keep that shop too, my own site does OK but again it ebbs and flows
Hope the sales flood in for everyone, so you don’t have to worry about these things
I stick by my policy that as long as I am in profit each month (even by 5p) I keep going…profit is profit…and a bit towards more chocolate
I did our tax returns last week and I’m happy to say Art In Wax made a profit and had it’s best year yet.
This is a new ACEO on one of my new Encausticbord panels - needs a few days to settle and then it will be for sale, these ones come with a care instruction leaflet as they cure for a few weeks …
Inspired by the lovely lavender in the garden I had fun with my hot air tool making this abstract piece …
I can’t see my picture - I tried to upload from my phone !!!
Here it is now … I’m on the PC now
