I’ve not seen them Stephie, think I might have to google them see if I can find any info.
Thanks for the info about the artbars.
I think it was the Derwent Art Academy that got me interested in using other mediums than just watercolour. That and seeing the fab work you’ve been doing with Inktense blocks and artbars. You’ve been inspiring me!
Just looked up those water colour markers and they do look interesting, but after having been disappointed in the desert range after having invested in them I’ll not be quite as quick to buy new stuff before I’ve seen them in use!
What a shame that you didn’t get on with the pudding paints. I still haven’t given mine a good outing, must make an effort to get the watercolours out again, I really have been neglecting them.
If I don’t win any markers I might buy one or two for sketching. It’ll be hard to choose colours though…maybe a blue to begin with…
I have a plan for my challenge painting involving glue…yikes! I’ll hopefully get it started tomorrow morning at art club, although I think some of the ladies wanted to do more oil painting so I’ll have to see how much help they need.
Hello all. I’ve popped in to rest and refresh my eyes after a second day of sketching. It’s done the trick, lots of lovely calm and restful scenes here today.
I’ve offered my disappointed customer a bee of their choice at half price. Haven’t heard back from them yet though.
The radiator grill did not defeat me and I have finished the preliminary sketch for the commission. It has taken 8 hours! I thought I’d keep track of how much time the car commissions take to help with pricing. At this rate, well let’s just say I won’t be paying off the mortgage any time soon
I have had a great day in my little studio today, the wax really has been flowing.
I got the hot plate out - it is kept stored in its box until I want to use it, as it is rather large, and I had all my pots of wax out … perfect day for it today as it was not warm outside, gets hot inside with all the heat and the hot air gun, the breeze was good too as I have the windows open for ventilation …
I’ve had a day to myself, so lots of me time with the wax … only a couple of phone calls and they were easy to answer questions so didn’t distract me too much … and I have achieved a couple of pieces I am really pleased with, just shown one on FB but will take pictures tomorrow if the light is better
Yes I’m intrigued too @StephanieGuy … I have a couple of ideas for the Summer Holiday theme, not sure if I will wax or not !!!
Anyone else joining in this little fun challenge ? Seems we are a small select bunch in here at the moment
I have had 2 days out.
Tues I went to the Summer Exhibition at the RA. I liked ‘Cake man’ the first thing u see when u go in. Had lunch in the RA Friends’ room with a friend who is a Friend. Also went to Fortnum’s.
Yesterday I went to RHS Wisley with another friend. Saw some lovely things there and had lunch. In the evening went to a Pampered Chef evening.
Glad u sorted the radiator grill Gaynor. If you get asked to do another it’ll be so much quicker.
Did this this pm. for our Summer Challenge I have had lots of wild poppies in my garden and also saw a wild flower meadow at Wisley that was planted with poppies to commemorate WW1.
Ah Tessa I adore poppies, they are my favourite flower. I’m a little sad that ours have all gone now in the garden. I love the looseness of your painting.
Gaynor I wouldn’t have the patience to draw so much detail before I get started. I put in the essentials and then get going! I guess with practice you’ll get quicker, my first commissions took hours and hours, now I can get a watercolour one done in a day.
Aww Margaret
I’ve been up in the loft, boy was it hot! Anyway I found some of Kate’s Sylvanians (there must be a box buried somewhere, she has loads of characters and furniture. I had fun setting this up!
Some brilliant summer themed work here! Tessa those poppies are gorgeous and I love the ice cream with the sunglasses artistically draped over the corner.
Stephie the miniature collection looks great and the mini toys are so cute!
Hope more people join in the challenge, it’s great fun isn’t it.
I like your ice cream Hazel. It was the first thing that came to mind before I thought of poppies. Might try it as a silk painting.
Stephie are you doing the White Dahlia silk painting project on fb?
Waves @ Margaret…
I don’t seem to get time to silk paint at the moment, but Kathe has her American friend coming to stay in September and she asked what she could bring…so I asked for 10 cans of magic sizing. Can’t wait to try Karen Sistek’s technique.
Thank you all for the ice cream love I have fun with the elegant writer pen and the canvas bords were a gift so good to use them, I’m getting a little collection of sketches now lol
Hope you all have a good day, I am hoping for more studio time, I’m a bit hooked on painting in this deeper layered style of Encaustic - the pictures are very different to my wax on card style but I’m getting hooked on mixed media and semi abstracts and spend hours yesterday painting a blue one that I’m calling “stormy sea” and yet it looks like I might have done it in minutes but the layering takes a long time …
Hopefully the light will be better this morning so I can have a photo session too …
