I have sent an urgent message to folksy
Just sent an urgent message in Folksy Support, hope thatâs the right place.
Ah I just noticed this too and as my last photo is often just a pic of the gift box or bag it looks really weird. Itâs funny as itâs happened on most but not all of them so I wonder why some are different - maybe it depends on how many photos there are on a listing? Hope they fix it soon.
The image names are prefixed by a meaningless string of characters (in front of the image name you gave it). All the photos for a listing have the same initial bit in the prefix and then each picture has a slightly different next bit. These ânext bitsâ are not ordered in the order they are displayed so I wonder if the system is suddenly picking up the highest ânext bit.â instead of using the first one âŚif that makes sense to you (it does to me but I wrote it )
This is my Irish horseshoe which is picking up the last photo not the one at the top of that list as it should. That last photo happens to have the highest ânext bitâ of the 7 but the others are not numbered in the order they are shown there. how odd.
Hope the National Trust doesnât see! They might think Iâm trying to sell one of their properties! (My pendant inspired by this view should be my main photo!)
and imagine if this were Facebook and someone had a picture which looked like nakedness hidden away at the end⌠would be banned for life
Itâs even messed up my own website where my Folksy widget shows a page replicating all the listings in my shopâŚincluding last pictures.
I have a new iris to list. Not touching any listing in my Folksy shop so it will have to wait.
Ah, thought it maybes turn out to have something to do with code.
At work (when there was such a thing) and my PC broke down theyâd send the âIT crowdâ round to fix it. Iâd pretend to look knowledgeable, shake my head and say âreckoned itâs the motherboard palâ - have no idea what that even is, just knew from experience thatâs what the issue always turned out to be
All I know is it is not anything that we sellers / shopkeepers have done which is why we are best leaving it alone until Folksy fix it. I wonder why these things always seem to happen after Folksy sign off for the weekend ?
My thought exactly Joy! Friday night Gremlins!
YEP!! Thatâs Folksy alright!!!
Last night when I looked my photos were all out of whack (some listings werenât affected, some were) but I just shut my computer down and went to bed (which Iâve set up to clear my cache and cookies). This morning everything is back to looking as it should with no input from me. Best guess we spotted it part way through what ever was going on with the image server.
If your photos are still not right try clearing your cache - you might be looking at an old version of the website from during the image server jiggery pokkery.
Mine appear to be fixed now - thanks to whoever put in the overtime at Folksy
Mine are all back normal now
Sasha with the greatest respect that was Nothing to do with clearing a cache.
No I agree the problem last night was nothing to do with caching. What I was suggesting was if people are still seeing something wrong this morning then it is worth clearing their cache to see if that helps before they start doing anything to their photos/ listings.
I have Never solved any computer problem with a cache clear. That is why I queried your comment xx
Mines all back to normal now had visions of having to change the photos on 650 listingsđ
Sorry it took a little while to sort everyone, Dougâs currently in the lakes with limited connection, but he managed to get it fixed in the early hours of the morning. Itâs not just Friday nights, those gremlins seem to know when heâs away!
As @JOYSofGLASS said, please use the urgent email address (urgent@folksy.co.uk) for big site issues like this, the regular support email wonât get checked until weâre back in work on Mondays, and forum tags are also unlikely to be seen until weâre back at work/log in to the forum (although as long as you know someone has emailed urgent thatâs fine).
We do at least get some problems reported on Folksy that are solved by a cache clear though, such as when users get the text view of the site. It wouldnât have been the problem when everyone was seeing the wrong images, but just in case anyone is still seeing the wrong thumbnails now that itâs been fixed, a cache clear could help.
A big âthank youâ Doug @dougfolksy - enjoy your break (Folksy Gremlins permitting!)
Thanks Kim (and Doug ) xx
@kimfolksy I think I know what is happening here re gremlins and jinx. I think it might be me.
I will explain. I came back last Sunday after a fantastic weekâs holiday in Cyprus when nothing went wrong and everything went absolutely right⌠apart from acquiring a nasty cold sore as I didnt take my sunhat or factor 50 for my lips which are susceptible in hot sun. It was a lot sunnier and hotter than expected !!
- When I got home I switched on my Windows 10 Lenovo Yoga laptop which I left at home as we had had our room broken into and my camera stolen on a similar trip to Tennerife a few years ago (incidentally on this holiday, when we were in our room early evening one day, when normally everyone would have been out at dinner, someone did use the pass key to enter our room and couldnât explain what they were doing there - so I did report to reception).
Back to my laptop. I keep shortcuts in the middle of my desktop to All the sites I use frequently:. Folksy FB IG Amazon Ebay etc etc. When I clicked a couple they refused to work and Google Chrome muttered about having removed something
- March 2023: Chrome Apps will no longer be launchable on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
This perplexed me for a while as my desktop also windows 10 is as normal. Concluded that Chrome has decided that my laptop is a tablet and there has to have apps and not shortcuts⌠(** insert profanities here ). I now have some shortcuts on the desktop (more modern site shortcuts like E* still work) and another set under the search bar on a Google New tab (not available on the initial Google screen opened (! and **) and the rest under my address bar. It took me 3 hours to set them all up again.

I refitted the soldering iron tip to my soldering iron so I could solder a witch which had been ordered. Smoke and all the lights went out. Soldering iron caput and took the house electrics with it. I donât keep a spare so had to order another one only to find they no longer stock the type I have used since 2008. Ordered to arrive by DPD next day.
-
Next day I had to print paperwork for the orders received since my return (none from Folksy). The printer declined to print them as it had inexplicably changed its IP address from what the Canon print manager thought it should be. (more ***). Took me 90 minutes to print my paperwork,

Had to drive to next village to post my packages as my post lady was at her grandmaâs funeral. On the way out I spotted an enormous hole in the raised flower bed which was not there the day before. Still not determined if massive rat, rabbit, fox or badger but so far so good it hasnât breached the defences now installed.
-
Next day phone call from a customer to report she had two gorgeous suncatcher birds but she had ordered a witch ! I blame my mistake sticking wrong labels on the right packages on the jinxes aboveâŚplus the fact the cold sore vrus was making me feel a bit off. Just about sorted that one out I think and hopefully both customers have what they ordered and it is only the second time Iâve done it in 15 years !!
-
DPD failed to deliver my soldering iron so could not solder the witch which needed to go out in the post first thing next day⌠would now be delayed as out all day next day after first thing.

Next day⌠off to the dentist. 2.5 hours drive. Gave myself an extra hourâŚAnd checked route on google maps for holdups. all ok. Stopped 1/3 of the way along for the loo and again checked google maps. All good. Back on motorway sign flashed⌠motorway closed at junction 6. I was just past 4⌠Hit handsfree button and car said it had no connection to my phone⌠though my bluetooth was on and phone was fine. Couldnt phone Bob to check which route to take nor dentist to say i would be late.
45 minutes later i reached next junction and managed to call Bob and dentist and rearrange appointment for 1.5 hours later. I made it with just 8 minutes to spare.
When I set off again the car had reconnected to bluetoothâŚ(** ****).
Sorry if this is a bit long but I think it does explain exactly what happened to the Folksy pictures last night⌠it was my jinxâŚand I apologise
PS I am being rather careful in everything I do until I am sure it has passed over me. PPS I now have a fully functioning soldering iron though had to order a new tip as the one supplied was too big⌠I do have some soldering tips for a Weller temperature controlled iron is anyone wants them !
Happy Saturday everyone
