I’m not quite sure what counts as Misc Sally, that’s something I really want to know too. Someone suggested it was views from a mobile device and others have said it also includes your own visits to your shop, but I don’t know for certain.

This week on Twitter I’ve reached nearly 6 million people :astonished: (i have close to 11k followers) Of course not everyone will click and come through to my shop. I do retweet #newonfolksy tweets :slightly_smiling_face:

wow - that’s amazing! Do you think many of your sales come directly from Twitter Carol?

I know a few have because they’ve contacted me on twitter but as to how many, i really don’t know :woman_shrugging:
I do schedule all my tweets so only go on there to retweet or chat with people.

I have had
98 misc
51 Folksy
31FB
4 folksy forums (even though I always fave others products)
3 pin
2 Google
1 instagram (always forget to post there)
My FB has increased but still no sales and I always post to Twitter and like others.

I expect on the forums it’s only the threads where there are rules you have to click others where it makes a difference. Ones like “show your blue items” I think most people will just scroll to the bottom of the thread, post their own items and not really pay much attention to what everyone else has put… so I’m not sure they’re actually helpful promotion.

The challenges such as the daily and weekly ones should encourage views, as they ask to promote or at least click other items in the thread. “Favourite an item from the shop above” will at least encourage one person to take a look around your shop and should get a few views, and I think if someone’s asking about ideas for a particular present they’re more likely to pay attention to relevant items posted (although I don’t see many of those type of threads). I think it’s just trying to work out which threads require a bit more interaction, and which will just be a post and run.

@Knittingtopia I’ve never thought of using #newonfolksy on twitter… I should obviously start! I don’t use hashtags much there, but try to remember to put one or two on my item tweets.

If you use the tweet button on your listings page, it automatically adds #newonfolksy

I’ve never use that! But how thoughtful of them to get it to include the tag. I always like to write my own little message in a more chatty tone and include a big photo, so it just seems easier to write it straight on twitter while I’m reading through tweets.

I have just started on folksy 4 weeks so I am very new my stats aren’t great Hopefully they will pick up

Hi there all, how come you get most sales from the Folksy Forum? How does this generate sales? Is it because you put 365 listings up (OH MY GAWSH) or is it from sales from other Folksy sellers?

@RobynCoetzee, for every 30 favourites I get from fellow forum members, it seems to generate another ten independent views on Folksy. Nearly all my sales are to guest buyers, not Folksy members. The favouriting seems to elevate your listing and you can appear on the front page (popular right now). I don’t know exactly how it works, but when I am active on the 365 thread, I get sales!

Wow, ok I didn’t know that. You mean you list a new item EVERY day? Gosh not sure I could do that but I guess I should try. Thanks for your help.

Sometimes I relist, easy with a plus account. I don’t always have time to list every day either, but I do my best! If I’m short on new paintings, I’ll have prints and cards made from existing ones. . They don’t sell that well on Folksy but they do alright at craft fairs. Having more items in your shop, does help you to get seen it seems.

Thanks very much Chris.

So if you were doing the 30 day challenge, if you missed a day would that be REALLY bad?

Ha, ha, it’s the Folksy Forum, not the Gestapo! Many people dip in and out. As long as you favourite and perhaps pin/promote others’ items when you are participating, no one will put you on the naughty step if you aren’t there every day.

he he was just checking - I think I will start with the weekly listing for now. PHEW…

I don’t think the sales come directly from the forum, but it does help you get more views and favourites, and as @ChrisStoneArtist says, those can help give you a little boost that will help others see your items that might not have otherwise (especially as it might end up with someone else pinning or tweeting your item). You never know where a sale might come from!

I have had a couple of small sales that I put down to the daily listing thread where another seller has bought from me, but I don’t expect it. It’s just that when you’re posting so often and get to know people a little, when it comes to a time they need the sort of item you sell, you might be one of the first shops in their mind because they’re regularly seeing it.

It’s really not that strict though, although it’s called the 365 challenge, people tend to take part more on a monthly basis, not making a full year commitment, and most people will miss a few days a month (or go on holiday in the middle and miss a week or two). The important thing is you’re favouriting all the other items while you are there.

I don’t have that many brand new listings, but over the years I have built up enough stock I have plenty to renew, so I’m trying to take part for a couple of months (sharing a mix of new listings and renewals), then I’ll take a few months off when I can hopefully build up more new items to share the next time I join in.
