The way to test it is to buy yourself something and see if it charges his account/ card (whether you ask him before hand or simply tell him what he’s got you as a treat is up to you!) I’m intrigued now to find out if that is what’s going on.
Ha Ha!! I might have to try that at some point.
I like your style
Actually I asked him to go and pretend to try to buy something with his I phone and Apple Pay and it’s still not showing up on my shop
I’m going to resort to the old chestnut of - get him to try clearing his cache in case he is looking at an old version of the website.
(we don’t do Apple here so I can’t help much beyond that)
Or maybe try clearing his cash, by encouraging him to buy!
Nope not that, literally two day old phone and prior to this morning he’s not viewed Folksy on it.
Thanks for the suggestion though
If the phone is that new and he’s not used apple pay on it since he got it get him to check that he is logged into apple pay and that it has transferred over from the old phone to the new phone. (OH has just gotten a new phone and whilst the apps transferred over from the old one he is having to go through them all and log back in/ check settings etc, the swearing has been impressive)
Hi same here I had a provisional driving license to use for getting into large concert arenas. It ran out last year, but now you need to have a passport to renew it, which is stupid and won’t be used.
Yes, he’s logged into Apple Pay, he can make a payment to my Sum up machine no problem but still no Apple Pay in my shop, I tried on my lap top and I can see Google pay in my shop but I’ve never signed up to Google pay so I’m really not sure what’s going on. Thank you for all your suggestion Sasha I really do appreciate it.
Well that’s just weird! I’m all out of ideas other than perhaps try buying yourself a treat using the google pay button and seeing who’s credit card details come up.
@SashaGarrett I tried this and my own credit card came up, so I checked my Google account and there were numerous cards saved there, including hubbies, and my paypal! Although I have never signed up for google pay I can only assume that when I have paid for things online using my card, and I’ve been logged in to Google, that it has saved my card details just like it saves passwords. Needless to say I have deleted most of them…
This was all on the PC.
My tablet is even more bizarre…I get a purple button with ‘Pay now’ and a strobing arrow next to it above the orange ‘add to basket’. No idea what that is as I have never used my tablet to make any purchases…I hardly use it all really.
Edit: I just want to point out that to use any of the cards to pay for the item this way I would have had to go in a put in the security code from the back of the card 1st as it hadn’t saved this information.
@KBCreations would you mind telling @PaintedHorseArt where you found these saved card details since she is also seeing an unexpected google pay button.
(since I don’t see the button I don’t know if I’m looking in the right place within my google account but there is nothing to see or if I’m looking in the wrong place)
Yes of course.
@PaintedHorseArt to see if you have cards saved in Googlepay open a new tab when signed in to Google. On the right hand side there are choices you can click and one should be your profile picture in a circle, (next to the block of 9 dots). Click on it.
Click on ‘Manage Google Account’. Then choose ‘Payments and subscriptions’ from the menu on the left. Then click ‘Manage payment methods’.
This will show you any payment methods Google has saved.
Hope that helps
Thanks so much both of you @SashaGarrett and @KBCreations I’m off to have a look just now.
Just checked and it comes up with an old expired card which Ive removed and PayPal which I use for every online purchase. I guess because PayPal is linked to a card that’s why it gives me Google Pay. Thanks again, I didn’t even know where to look for it.
Oh that doesnt sound fair at all, I have to admit I havn’t ever read anything on their site so didnt realise. I agree they should ask when we open the account not months later and I would find it very annoying as I don’t have any photo ID either so i can really understand how you feel about it.
I remember reading a post a few months ago about the charges to sellers over fraudulent buyers and was really surprised by it…definately not fair.
You are right about the fraudulent charges. Checked with my British bank about it, well local bank manager as a neighbour and he was shocked and could not believe that should happen as not the buyer or sellers fault. He said it sounded as if they made the seller the guilty party by freezing funds etc and way too heavy handed.
Plus he confirmed that if a UK company, if you have a business account with a UK bank they can confirm your identity that way. The same if you open a business account with a bank that holds your personal account no need for photoid. He said typical of the US.
Hence why I cancelled Stripe and noted in my intro that happy to send a SumUp invoice. Have done this on an occasion and went smoothly.
Folksy sellers aren’t charged for fraudulent orders. I know a couple of years ago they were, but because of that the checkout was switched to one with better fraud prevention which meant that Stripe no longer charge the seller (that’s why you can only buy from single shops with Stripe now).
Thank you Kim, thought it sounded unfair but I did remember (what seems a couple of months ago ) reading something on the clubhouse about Stripe charging sellers. Pleased that no longer applies.
